Hello friends and happy December! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year and I am thrilled to have our holiday home fully decorated and ready to share here with you all week long. It is my hope that you enjoy a peek into my home and gain some new inspiration for your own home.
This year, I had fun using lots of items I had on hand in new ways and today we are starting on the back porch! I am also joining lots of other bloggers sharing their outdoor spaces and they are all linked below. If you are coming over from Annie at Most Lovely Things– Welcome! Let’s take a stroll through a winter wonderland…
With just a few items I had on hand, I attempted to turn our porch into a “winter wonderland” and I am sharing a few ideas below for your to incorporate in your own home. I enjoy tweaking this space for the seasons and holidays and making it a comfortable place for my family to relax and spend time together. Yes, s’mores have already been made out here!
So with that, let’s take a look around at the porch to see how I created a winter wonderland!
For our holiday porch, let’s start with my favorite part…
The sled!
Wouldn’t you know that a few weeks ago my 8 year old yelled “STOP MOM!” when he spotted this old sled in our neighbors trash.
He saw a sled to use when it snows. I saw a decoration for our back porch. So it is on loan to me for now until a snow day! 🙂 And this is what started my winter wonderland theme for the room.
The ice skates are also an old treasure that I added to create a winter wonderland. These were my Dad’s and spent many winters skating on a pond in Ohio. (You know you have a good Dad when he calls you before he tosses his old skates to see if you want them!)
The next element for adding winter wonderland items is lots of throws and pillows to make it feel warm and cozy. Adding this pair of plaid throws over a pair of chairs also helps to add that winter wonderland feeling. I shared that I attended the Better Homes & Gardens Stylemaker even in September. But what I didn’t share is that I won this pair of chairs at that event! How fun is that!
I grabbed these sweater pillows from Amazon for my fall porch and they are perfect for that winter wonderland feeling! Adding lots of layers and textures always makes a room feel more cozy!
Got firewood? Add it to your winter wonderland room! Also, antlers always makes me feel like I am in a lodge, so they made their appearance on the coffee table and mantel.
Here you can see how I added lots of pillows to the sofa as well for added texture and warmth. For the table runner, I just cut some antelope fabric- every room needs a little animal print am-I-right?
The last element for creating a winter wonderland is adding a Christmas tree. I found this pom-pom garland at Hobby Lobby a few years ago and it always finds a new spot every Christmas. I love the way it looks like snowballs out here in our winter wonderland!
Hope you enjoyed walking in our winter wonderland today!
