Hey there friends and happy Monday. It was another lovely fall weekend here and we stayed busy. Whatever funk the boys had was generously passed to me last week but we all finally got to feeling better and were able to enjoy some fun fall family time. Hope your weekend was great, too!
A couple weeks ago I did something super courageous.
Something many have thought about but few have attempted.
Something some may call insanity.
I took both kids to Ikea. Alone.
🙂
But I had a VERY IMPORTANT reason. You see, I NEEDED black and white buffalo check fabric and I NEEDED IT RIGHT THEN.
So, off we went.
I made an adventure out of it and I am glad to say the trip was a success. I am the new owner of some fabulous Ikea Berta Ruta Fabric– Black and White Buffalo Check fabric- for $8.99/yard.
But I’m going to let you in on a little secret. My Halloween home is not-so-scary and not-so-perfect.
See that pillow?
I fully intend to have a pair. But there is only one.
Yep. Half of the fabric that I had-to-have-right-that-minute-must-take-both-kids-to-Ikea-alone, is still sitting in a pile waiting to be made into another pillow. For weeks it has been taunting me.
Maybe it will be done by Thanksgiving? Maybe Santa will bring a sewing fairy to finish my projects and I will have them done for Christmas morning?
Santa, you listening?
I also fully intended to decorate more for Halloween.
But as you can see I threw my “31” pillow from last year out,
scattered a couple random skulls, pumpkins and skeletons around,
and called it a day.
BOOM. Halloween. Done.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel super inadequate when I start looking at blogs, Pinterest and Instagram. I mean.
Who REALLY looks so fabulous, ALL THE TIME?
If you are nodding your head right now, then this blog hop I am linking up with is just what you need this morning. It’s the Lazy Girls Fall Tour. Because, don’t let the beautiful blog homes fool you.
We are moms.
Our kids get sick.
Our husbands travel, or we travel for work.
Our shirts have food smeared on them.
Our laundry is piled everywhere.
Our Christmas decor from last year is a hot mess shoved in a corner in the attic. (wait, is that just me?)

Well now you've added an item to my IKEA shopping list, so thanks a lot. Haha! I also have to laugh because I did the exact same thing last Christmas — got fabric and intended to make 2 pillows.. made one for a photo shoot.. never made the second one. Anyway your home looks great! Such a fun lazy girls tour!

I'm so glad to know that having a blog does not immediately make one's home holiday perfect for every holiday. For the longest time I was convinced that all bloggers even decorated for Arbor Day. Thank you for relieving me of a lot of guilt!

Don't even start with the number of projects that I have to get NOW NOW NOW… and then there they sit collecting dust! I love that Halloween throw pillow and the gold skull is everything!

I totally understand the need to go to IKEA right. now. I also understand that it doesn't always look perfect–but I think your home looks just right! XO, Christy

So funny! I am the same…especially with my sewing projects…1 pillow is ALWAYS enough, for now. 8 months later, I'll get the machine back out. Whatever. Your pad looks great, as always Heather!!!
