Style My Closet Challenge – 31 Days to Fall In Love With Your Closet Again

in style on 09/28/19

Happy Saturday friends! I am so excited about today’s post!  It’s all about a fun October challenge called STYLE MY CLOSET CHALLENGE. This is a 31 Day Challenge designed to help encourage us to intentionally wear the clothes in our closets with daily ideas to help spark creativity.

Last week for my trip to NYC, it was so fun to plan outfits and get dressed up. It gave me joy. While we were at the Better Homes and Gardens event, we first heard from a Marie Kondo trained speaker that really broke down what it means to find joy in your life and how to purposefully measure those things that give you joy. The second speaker was a long time Elle Decor Editor who spoke about her life in the fashion industry and how she approaches getting dressed as an opportunity to “decorate yourself”.

With so much inspiration floating around us, it was only natural that my blogging bestie Rachael from This is Our Bliss and I would dissect the speakers topics after the event. How could we measure the joy in our lives? We chatted about how we miss having things to get dressed up for. We also talked about how when we do have things to get dressed for, it can feel like we have nothing to wear and that getting “more” clothes sometimes feels like the answer.

I think we all know the reality is that we have tons to wear. That buying “more” clothes does not always give us joy! Don’t get me wrong-  shopping is something I enjoy and I absolutely love getting new clothes. But with all of the temptations to buy “more”, I just want to pause and celebrate the items I already have. At least for the next 31 days.

So over our glass of Rose we decided to embrace October and the fall season and dreamed up the 31 day STYLE MY CLOSET CHALLENGE. We jotted down a few ideas and before we knew it, we had 31 outfit ideas to celebrate fall!

And since we are so excited about it, we figured you might like to join in the fun. Join us in intentionally wearing the fall clothes in our closets for 31 days straight.

For the stay at home mom, we are giving you a reason to declare a random Tuesday “Glitz and Glam” day and wear a sparkly top. Or maybe on a Thursday you decide to “Make a Statement with Jewelry”‘ when you probably would have just thrown on your old college sweatshirt. 🙂

For the working ladies, we want to help spark some new ideas for you to reach further back in your closet and wear something you haven’t worn in awhile. (and see if there is a way to actually pull off camo in your office?)

For the retired crew or empty nesters, maybe we are giving you a new color combo that you wouldn’t normally try.

Whatever your reason, we are here for you! Let’s just have some fun and “decorate ourselves” this October!

We will be sharing our outfits over on Instagram and here on our blogs. If you aren’t already following be sure to click over: @SOUTHERNHEATHER and @THISISOURBLISS We would absolutely love to hear from you if you are participating. You can always tag us in your pictures on Instagram and be sure to use the hashtag #stylemyclosetchallenge.

We start on Tuesday October 1st so you have the next few days to plan. Although, you don’t even need to plan- just have fun with it. We also made this one page guide Style My Closet Challenge – October 2019 for you to print and tack up in your closet or mirror if that is easier.

Let’s do this!

xoxo-

Heather

So far I love all the outfits! I am also one who has many closets full but no clothes to wear when I’m trying to get dressed to go out!
