Style My Closet Challenge Update- Part 1

in style on 10/17/19

Wow! I had no idea how lazy I was when it came to my closet. LOL. The October Style My Closet Challenge has been more of a “challenge” than I expected! On one hand, it really is HARD to get dressed in different and thoughtful outfits every day. On the other hand, my closet if FULL of hidden gems that are just waiting to be pulled off their hangers and be worn!

For those of you just checking in, my friend Rachael and I put together a 31 day style challenge for the month of October to help motivate us to be more intentional about our closets and what we wear every day. We called it Style My Closet Challenge and you can read all about it here.

  1. CRAZY FOR CAMO

Camo Tee  |   White Sneakers   |   Pink Heart Earrings |  Rug (similar)  |  Cotton Wreath

I had fallen victim to wearing yoga pants or the same 5-10 things that I habitually grabbed. It has been a wonderful motivator to get out of the go-to athleisure gear and actually wear the clothes in my closet! And it has definitely made me realize just how much I still have hanging that I never wear.

2. GRAPHIC TEE

Good Vibes Graphic Tee   |   Brown Cardigan

I am grabbing things left and right off hangers to donate. For example- on the Pink Day- I had three pink tops hanging in my closet, but it turns out I didn’t like any of them! So they are all gone.

3. LEOPARD LOVE

Rug (similar)  |  Cotton Wreath | Black Peplum Top |  Sandals |
Leopard Shorts (sadly mine are Walmart and sold out, but these are similar)

It has also been really nice to pause and just stop buying anything new. It has been really great to just wear what I have and be forced to grab different stuff. And definitely a challenge! I have heard from many of you that are playing along which is incredible. I hope you are feeling inspired!

4. ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK

Rug |  Kimono |  Wreath |  Tortoise Necklace  |   Planters   |    Wire Pumpkins

Today, I thought it would be fun today to share the outfits for the first 10 days of the challenge.

5. PATTERN PLAY

6. FALLING FOR BURGUNDY & PINK

7. MAKE A STATEMENT WITH JEWELRY

8. MAD FOR PLAID

9. ON WEDNESDAYS WE WEAR PINK

10. OLIVE YOU AUTUMN

It’s not too late to join in the fun! I’ve heard from lots of you, and would love to know if you have been playing along so drop me a quick note!

Question about the scarf from Day 8: was the scarf purchased that way or do you have a “trick” to share on how to make the knots? I like the style; keeps one’s neckline from looking too poufy. If possible, could you share a “how to” on your blog sometime?

Ditto! Amazing! I scrolled down to ask about this scarf, too. I love the soft knots! Please, please tell us soon about this scarf.

This is a regular scarf that I turned into a necklace! I have actually been asked my several people how I did this, so I will work on a tutorial for next week! Thanks for the note!
