Hi there friends! It feels like forever since I have been in regular blog mode and I miss you! I hope your summer has been wonderful. If you have been following along lately on Instagram (@southernheather) you know the boys and I just spent a month down at the beach. We arrived home on Sunday and it feels good to get back into the swing of things around here. I am still unpacking suitcases and attempting to re-enter the real world. I took lots of pictures and can’t wait to share a recap of the rest of our trip soon!
But today it’s Wine:30 here at Southern State of Mind! I am sharing a fun beach tailgate happy hour set up and life hack tip as part of the Southern State of Mind Happy Hour series. This one is for all of you wine lovers. #watchmesipmychardonnaynay
When we were down in Florida, my sister came to visit for a few days. It was so nice having her there and we decided to enjoy a happy hour with our toes in the sand. I mentioned in my first trip recap that you can drive on the beach in Daytona so we took full advantage of that for our happy hour and set ourselves up a fun little beach tailgate.
We grabbed some cheese and crackers, a few chairs and Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Chardonnay & Cabernet Sauvignon Single-Served Stacked Wines.
These stacked wine bottles are pretty much genius and perfect for tailgates or glamping. The bottle actually breaks apart into 4 separate pre-filled non-breakable glasses. No wine bottle opener needed. No chance of broken glasses. So perfect for on-the-go events. These stacked wines are also available in Mark West Pinot Noir and Simi Chardonnay.
It’s always fun to slow down a bit and enjoy a happy hour with friends. And even better when you can skip the busy restaurant and enjoy it out and about. Of course, watching waves always helps.
And Brie. Brie is always a good idea.
Don’t you love our beach bucket “table”?
Oh, what’s that in the wine glass you ask?
Pay attention here y’all. This may just be the most important life hack you will ever need to know…
Freeze grapes to use as iced cubes to help keep your wine chilled.
Mind. Blown.
Yep, just use frozen grapes to keep your wine chilled without watering it down with regular ice cubes. I just throw them in a plastic bag in the freezer and pop them into any glass that needs a little more chilling. Plus- frozen grapes are really tasty!
What are your tips for on-the-go entertaining, tailgates or glamping? Or in our case, beach happy hours?

Great idea to keep the wine cold…and frozen grapes are great on a hot day.

This is genius! I’m forever plopping ice cubes in my wine to rapid cool it after buying hot wine from the store but this would be so much better! #client

I am guilty of ice cubes too, but the grapes are a life saver! Cheers!
