Every year I wait and wait and wait but sadly the Christmas Fairy never arrives to pull out all of our Christmas tubs from storage. Wouldn’t you know that I wait and wait and wait but the Christmas Fairy never arrives to put it all away either! Turns out I am always the one that ends up dragging the tubs in and out from storage every Christmas.
So this year, I decided to try and help simplify the entire process.
Enter Bankers Boxes.

If you aren’t familiar- these are sturdy boxes with handles that are perfect for heavy stacking. They are super easy to manage and can handle lots of weight because they are designed to hold old files and paperwork. I decided to order two packs of 10- they shipped flat and were easy to put together. For all 2o of my boxes it cost around $35. It’s definitely annoying to spend money on boxes but I look at it as investment in all of my future Decembers! I shopped around and ordered mine from Walmart and they were here in a couple days with free shipping.
I was SO sick of the mismatched tubs that weigh 100,000 pounds each that are filled with all random Christmas items. I found myself not even wanting to drag some of the tubs out this year because I. Was. Over. It.
The nice thing about these boxes is that I was very specific with how I am organizing them. Here is an example:
- Family Tree- Christmas Ornaments (there are 4 of these boxes)
- Metallic Tree- Ornaments & Ribbon
- Nutcracker Tree- Ornaments & Ribbon
- Nativity
- Christmas Village
- Tree Lights
- Christmas Linens (Stockings, Needlepoint Pillow, Tree Skirt)
As you can see, the box is labeled with what is specifically in that box. So when I am ready to decorate our Nutcracker tree- I can simply grab that box and GO! No more hodge podge of whatever will fit into a tub. Which means no more decor explosion and broken back!

Side note- the other thing I did was save all of the air pillow packing inserts from our Amazon deliveries throughout December. I cut off one side and broke them into little individual sleeves and used them to put ornaments in. I love using clear bags so I can still see everything (non-breakable items of course) and love love love that I was able to recycle these! Most of our ornaments are non-breakable (a hazard of having little ones) so I don’t need anything over the top to stow away most of our ornaments.
This also forced me to completely clean out my tubs and purge lots of the items that I didn’t use this year. I do hope to create pretty labels for each box- but maybe next year. #BABYSTEPS
So what have you done to organize your Christmas? Any new methods? Let me know!
xoxo-

Great ideas! I do save my bubble wrap from shipping boxes but never thought of saving these pillow type “bags”. The banker boxes are a great idea. Now that I am getting older it is getting harder and harder to get out those bins. Thanks for all the tips. Happy New Year!
I am glad it was helpful! And I love that we can repurpose the shipping supplies. Happy New Year!
Love Bankers Boxes. Be careful with any precious linens or linen material itself. They don’t do well in cardboard for some reason unless it’s acid free.
