Front Porch Coffee Talk

in Front Porch Coffee Talk on 05/08/20

Eight is Great! Unless it’s the eighth week of quarantine, that is. Then eight is just … okay-ish. Another week under our belts and honestly there was a second wave of grief and anxiety that overcame me this week.  We are wrapping up our school year and while I welcome my title of “Mrs. Mommy” to be retired for now, I also feel very anxious about our summer. There is also already so much panic and hoopla about what next school year will look like (as-in, will it be non-existent?!?). But I just keep on keeping on and focus on each day as it comes!  I would love to hear from you, so grab your coffee and meet me on the porch for this week’s Front Porch Coffee Talk.

MOTHERS DAY

First and foremost, I want to wish a heartfelt Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms, Grandmas, Aunts, Sisters, Cousins and all the other lovely women who care for us and make the world a better place.  Seriously, how many households are being held together right now by the Super Moms? I hope your people let you know how much they appreciate you!

CURRENTLY BINGE WATCHING

Have you finished Netflix yet? Here are some options I am currently watching if you are looking for something to binge.

THE LAST DANCE: Described as “is a 2020 American sports documentary miniseries about the career of Michael Jordan, with particular focus on the 1997–98 Chicago Bulls season. “

We just started The Last Dance this week and binged the first six episodes in three nights. Unfortunately, we had to stop there since the next four episodes will be coming out over the next two Sundays.  I didn’t expect to really get into it since it’s all about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls- neither of which I follow or particularly care about. However, the way they put the timeline together really makes it interesting and there is lots of behind the scenes insider scoop. Also, it’s always fun to learn more about events as an adult that you remember living through and getting new perspective.

OUTER BANKS: Described as “a teenager enlists his three best friends to hunt for a legendary treasure linked to his father’s disappearance.”

The other binge worthy show I’m watching is Outer Banks. It’s definitely a teen drama which I am not usually a big fan of, at least not since I was a teen… But the mix of murder mystery thriller along with a coming of age drama makes it unique and has kept me on edge. Overall it’s a fun escape during this quarantine and I really love the coastal scenery where they film it.

TRADER JOE’S SPICES

The grocery store runs really aren’t what they used to be, right? I used to enjoy popping in a couple times a week to grab what we needed for dinners and entertaining. But I did finally make my first Trader Joe’s run since this all started and I snagged two new to me spices- the Chili Lime and Everything but the Elote. I shared my new and improved Spice Drawer this week, but it has actually become even more improved since I added these.

PERFECT  $30 AMAZON SPRING CARDIGAN

If you are looking for a lightweight neutral cardigan– look no more! I actually ordered this one last year and see that it is still in stock. It runs true to size, mine is a medium, and I ordered the light camel color. It is the perfect lightweight layer for cooler mornings and evenings and looks great with so many things.

BOOK CLUB UPDATE

I am happy to report that I finished another book!- and actually devoured it in two days!  I have been wanting to read Evvie Drake Starts Over ever since my make-believe-bestie Jenna Bush Hager recommended it as part of her book club last summer. I instantly loved the characters and loved the sweet story line. This is the exact type of book I was looking for- a light read that will make you smile.

LET’S GO SHOPPING

In case you missed yesterday’s post, I rounded up all my recent faves and finds. Turns out I have a major thing with blue! Sorry not sorry! Seriously though- there are lots of screaming good deals here – be sure to check them all out by clicking here! Also, I mention it in that post, but if you haven’t been over to the GAP- it’s worth taking a look. Everything is 40% off with code GAPFRIEND and another 20% off with code ALLYOU on top of that discount. I scored two sweaters for around $12 each. There are lots of summer basics for the fam- and I am SO tempted to get all of the cousins matching rash guards for the summer. Or matching jammies- how cute are these?

From my porch to yours- XOXO,

Heather
