Today’s post is all about a fun new way to wear your old favorite scarf. I didn’t intend to share a tutorial on this, but I heard from so many people on the blog as well as Instagram asking about how I tied this scarf when I shared it.
So, ask and you shall receive!
This method for tying a scarf really came out of necessity! I was participating in the Style My Closet Challenge and the theme for the day was “Mad for Plaid”. I really wanted to go for it and wear lots of plaid. But you may recall that we got a major heat spell here in Atlanta for the first part of October and there was no way I could justify wearing a scarf. So I decided to turn my scarf into a necklace… and here we are!
Step 1: Scarf Necklace Tutorial
Start with a standard scarf, but you will want it to be on the thinner side. Just lay it out so that you know where the center is, this is where you will start.
Step 2: Scarf Necklace Tutorial
Once you have the center determined, you will tie that part into a knot. I tied it as tight as it will go.
Tip- I have since untied it, and while it was wrinkled, I didn’t have any problem getting it untied.
Step 3: Scarf Necklace Tutorial
From there, you will want to go about a palm size up on both sides and tie two more knots on each side.
Step 4: Scarf Necklace Tutorial
Once those three knots are secured, just tie the back into a knot as well to make it fit like a necklace.
That is all! Hope you have fun trying a new way to wear what you already have.
xoxo-
Heather

Since I am one of the ones who commented about how to tie the scarf, thank you!
I can’t wait to try this.
I am so glad you asked for it! I love to “serve” and help out my people! 🙂 Thanks.
I was so happy to see this tutorial! I tied a scarf necklace yesterday, wore it, and loved the way it changed the look of one of my “go-to” scarves! Thanks! Your explanation with great photos could not have been better! You are a real trooper, Heather!
Oh I am so glad you found it useful! I am glad the photos and explanation helped- it’s pretty easy once you see it is just knots. Thanks!
