WELCOME: A TOUCH OF FALL– OUR EARLY FALL HOME TOUR
- If you are new here at Southern State of Mind- WELCOME! I’m Heather, the iced-coffee-drinking-mom behind the blog. My husband and I live in Atlanta with our two boys – ages 7 and 10. I have been blogging for around 7 years, ever since I was fortunate to stay home with my youngest. Here on the blog I share an inside look at our home, style inspiration, a book club and travel highlights.
- This blog brings me so much joy and I am so glad you are joining me today to have a look around! One way to catch up with me is to read my Front Porch Coffee Talks where I share what’s on my mind on Friday mornings just like friends chatting over coffee.

- Last but not least, I share my day to day over on Instagram @ SOUTHERNHEATHER and I would absolutely love to see you over there!
A TOUCH OF FALL || THE FRONT PORCH
The front porch is one of our favorite spots in the house and it always seems to be the first spot I feel like changing up each season. This time around the planters got some bright purple mums which really just make me so happy when I see them! Most likely they will not make it very long in this heat, but hey- a girl can dream and enjoy them while they last. If not- they didn’t cost much more than cut flowers so I will be happy if they make it a couple weeks.

The wreath is an Amazon purchase I invested in a few seasons ago and like to just change out the bows with each season. I snagged this ribbon at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago because I loved it, and was thrilled to be able to make a bow with it using florist wire.
As I mentioned, for the planters I am using purple mums and you can see the fun wire pumpkins among the plants. This is the third year I have used these wire pumpkins for my fall planters and I love the little “touch of fall” they add! I can’t find these exact pumpkins anymore but something like this would be a fun addition if you are looking!
The porch got a few new pillows and plants and I love the subtle touches of fall as well. Yay for cooler mornings and coffee out here this fall.
A TOUCH OF FALL || THE KITCHEN
Alright so let’s move on into the kitchen. Since our kitchen opens to the living room and is one of the first things you see when you walk in, I really try to keep it clutter free and low key. So for fall I just did a few “touches” of greenery.
The kitchen island is also simple with some fresh flowers, antlers and a candle gathered on a tray. The candle was a fall treat for myself and I love how big it is and it is yummy for fall!

A TOUCH OF FALL || THE LIVING ROOM
Next let’s move onto the living room. I layered a few “touches of fall” throughout this space as well. Just some brown velvet pillows, a big antler, and a few pumpkins. Done and done!
A TOUCH OF FALL || THE DINING ROOM
So now let’s all take a peek at the dining room. This space was really struggling up until this summer when I gave the entire room a post quarantine glow up. It had become THE drop spot for clutter piles. I had also purchased a few things as DIY projects but had not bothered to actually do anything with them. I was so glad the creative bug hit me and I gave this space a refreshed look. I just love it’s cool factor now and loved adding a few “touches of fall” in here too.

All of these fun mini pumpkins were at the Dollar Spot at Target this year. You can buy a 10 pack online for $10! I think they are just so cute scattered around!
Well, that does it for today. I really enjoyed showing you around and sharing a touch of fall with you. I hope you are inspired to do some fall “house tweaking” of your own! I would love to see you over on my Instagram where I share daily updates- you can follow along here @SOUTHERNHEATHER.
