Hi there! So sorry I was a bit MIA last week. I really enjoyed my self prescribed “spring break” and it was just what the doctor ordered! We did a whole lot of nothing mixed in with some lazy mornings, family time and this mama got a few treasure hunts in. I will definitely share my finds with you soon!
Of course, I was a busy bee working on some projects for the master bedroom. I can’t wait to share some updates with you! Today I am going to show you how I gave our nightstands a very easy campaign-inspired makeover.
To remind you, this is what we started with.
Brown, boring and beat up.
We acquired a pair of these nightstands back when we lived in Orlando, so about 7 years ago. They have definitely seen better days. Through hubbies job we had access to furniture from a staged apartment for a steal and these nightstands came from that stash. I’ve never been crazy about them, and of course, they were supposed to be a temporary solution.
Famous last words! Here is the before shot of the bedroom again:
In my original inspiration board for our master that I shared you saw these coral campaign beauties for nightstands. For anyone that is not familiar, campaign furniture is known for having metal hinges in the corners and handles on the sides. It was made for military campaigns so that it could easily be moved.
Aren’t these beautiful?
But since:
A) I don’t even know where I could buy these…
B) I’m sure they would be more than I would want to spend (which is…um, zero) and…
C) I already had these existing nightstands…
I decided to just give the ones we had a sweet little makeover.
So with these as my vision, I got my supplies:
– Prairie Colors Barn Red Paint–
I’m so excited to be part of the Prairie Colors Paint Posse and used the Barn Red Chalk Finish paint for this project. This color is a nice orange-y coral-y red.
– L Brackets- these are from Home Depot and I used one pack of 4 for each nightstand. $3 each pack
OK. So, I am not blind and know that these are not as cool as the ones I shared in my inspiration board…. but hey, for less than $3 each for the corner brackets I am pretty happy with the way they turned out.
And just for fun, here is the before and after again.
Stay tuned tomorrow- I will be back with more master bedroom updates!
xoxo-
Heather
