Happy Wednesday! I am posting updates on my One Room Challenge a day early this week because tomorrow is the April Pretty Preppy Party, be sure to come by and link up!
This past week I made some major progress… but whoa…there is still lots to do. It really is fun to focus on one room and get ‘er done and I love having the kick in the pants to make it happen.
Well, first things first, I changed my mind.
Then changed it again.
Then again.
And again.
And chances are, I will probably change it again before it’s all said and done but that’s all part of the process I suppose.
When the hubby and I finally got a chance to review what was swirling in my head in my original plan, he really liked all of the ideas… but wasn’t a fan of the Chinoiserie pattern.
And that’s cool. This is his room so I want him to love it too! So after some more brainstorming here is where I am currently heading-
Yellow?
Green?
I know, I know. The pops of green and yellow surprised me too!
The new game plan of course resulted in an avalanche of changes. I love having a room evolve over time and I suppose even six weeks is enough time for things to evolve and change. When I first shared my plan, it was pretty loose so above you can see how things are coming more together. In my head at least, ha.
The first change is incorporating an coral-y, orange-y, pink-y ikat fabric. Using this as a starting off point, I shared how I made over our existing nightstands for these campaign-inspired coral nightstands. Such a huge transformation for very little time and money.
Next up, I painted the accent wall behind the bed.
Can I get a HALE YEAH?
Yep, that is Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy and I love the way the headboard pops off the wall now. This color really is as good as everyone promises. A really nice dark-but-not-too-dark navy blue. Whenever I paint I am always hating on Benjamin, Moore, Sherwin and Williams but when I am done, I am so happy with the results! 🙂
Alright. I saved the best for last. You ready for this?
What was once this wall of brown Ikea wardrobes:
Is now covered with Knock-Off Ballard Garden District mirrors.
Seriously, what does one do with very little budget to address a wall of wardrobes? I was stumped on this one. I am loving this idea and think it really adds some great interest to the room. (PS- these are IMPOSSIBLE to photograph!)
Alright, those were some pretty big projects that I tackled this past week. I guess this is my idea of fun?!?!? 🙂
Here’s hoping I can tick off some these littler items this week.
xoxo-

I LOVE it! Looking great. My vote would be to paint the frames for the mirrors 🙂

What a change for those wardrobes – the mirrors are awesome. My vote would be to paint the frames. I think it would look very cohesive and 'built-in"
