Happy Friday friends! It’s been a hectic summer week around here with kids coming and going and unpacking from our Hilton Head trip. Oh- and my BABY turned six yesterday. I promise I only cried twice this week. (ahem, ok so maybe three times) Motherhood is a crazy ride- one minute you are crying because you no longer need sippy cups and the next you are ready to lock yourself in the closet and hide from the mess and the chaos. But I know this wild ride is short and I am trying to just hold on end enjoy it. What’s new in your world? I’d love to hear so grab your coffee and meet me on the porch, it’s time for this week’s Front Porch Coffee Talk.

THIS IS 40! Yes, I know, I turned 40 back in March. But it was such a crazy time as it was our first day of home school and all I remember feeling was completely numb. With all of the birthday plans tossed out, I just figured we would try again at 41. But my framily surprised me with an at-home redo. And it was even sweeter because I got to celebrate with sweet crew. So far, 40 has been great…besides one tiny detail… oh yeah… a pandemic….
Last week, we hit the road for a family vacation to Hilton Head. I always love when we drive into town and I get my first glimpse of the low country.
Our annual Hilton Head trip is usually pretty low-key- but this year it was especially simple due to the current state of the world. But we made the best of it! Family golf, beach days and bike rides were on the agenda- and I was just so happy to have a change of scenery.
We also did lots of gator hunting (from afar). Can you spot this one!?!? Since I grew up in South Florida and have lots of family in Florida, if you sit around the dinner family table for long enough- it usually will include a gator tale or two. I like that our boys are adding a few to their childhood memories too.
Oh, and I was able to START and FINISH an entire book. Is it even summer until you read a beach read? This one was great- it had all of the elements of a perfect beach read!
Lots of questions on this fun embroidered tank that I shared in my Taco Tuesday post this week. You can find it here. I sized up and cut off the pom pom tassel.
I read this article this week and it really resonated with me. I logged lots of hours this week “editing” our house. Going through the pantry, the playroom and my closet. It honestly felt like a waste of time since to someone else you probably wouldn’t even be able to tell- until I read this article. This perspective made me feel better about how I feel like I am constantly purging and editing. It is COMPLEX to live SIMPLY!

I will write to you from my Back Porch as that is where I spend a great amount of time! I loved that article about simple living.
I too am trying my best to go through every drawer, closet, under bed storage, attic, etc and paring down. It does feel good to take a whole car load to the Charity and get rid of it! Sometimes I wonder why I’ve kept the things I do, but there are memories
attached to everything. How do I part with a beautiful English cup and saucer that was my Great Grandmothers, or a Hummel that
was my Grandmothers, or a beautiful bird that was my Mothers. Or a beautiful plate from my Mother in law that is from Germany?
It is very difficult to say the least! I am paring down one thing at a time and feel good. Plus the cabinets and drawers are looking better than ever!
