Guest Room Makeover || No Sew Greek Key Pillow

Sometimes it’s all about the details, so let’s take a closer look at one I made in our Guest Room as part of the Spring One Room Challenge. It’s already week four of the eight week challenge, so we are already half way done! While this week’s update is a small detail, I do think that the little details are what makes a room feel finished and put together. I have done this easy pillow update all over the house, but never broken down my tutorial here on the blog so I figured today would be a good time to do that!

Plus, in full transparency- there hasn’t been much progress made on this room this week. Eek, I better get BUSY!

If you’ve been around here long, you may recall that I have added Greek Key trim to pillows for our living room. And I recently added some trim detail to a pillow in my office. So when I needed a small little lumbar pillow for the guest room, I decided to pull this little party trick out of my hat.

OK, so let’s get one thing straight before we move on. If you are looking for formal and fancy ways to do things- you probably know that this is not the place! I like to find inexpensive and easy ways to do things around here! Alright, so now that we are all on the same page, let’s take a look!

SUPPLIES

Pillow Cover
Fabric Trim
Fabric Glue

DIRECTIONS

To do these no-sew pillows- I just found an inexpensive pillow cover online. This two pack was only $12 and it was just the right color and size I was looking for. The trim came from Hobby Lobby – and I like to stock up when it’s 40% off so I actually had a couple yards already on hand.

Then I just cut the trim down to size. Once it’s trimmed, if it feels like it might fray, I take a lighter to help seal off any loose threads. Once the piece is ready, I just add glue and line it up with the zipper on the bottom and then have it hang a bit over in the back. You could of course, glue the trim in one big piece on the front and back!

Once the ribbon is glued in place, I usually add some kitchen clips until it’s dried just to ensure that everything stays intact.

I did this project in our living room a few years ago and it is still holding up great! Even with the boys and dog and general use- the fabric trim has stayed on with no problems.
