Guest Room Makeover || The Before

in Lifestyle on 04/07/22

It’s very hard to believe but this June will mark five years since we moved into our house. Where-oh-where does the time go? Well, I can tell you one place it hasn’t gone – giving our guest room any style. Sure, it’s received a few happy little doses over the years. But the problem is, I am a perpetual house tweaker. And I am very guilty of stealing from Peter to pay Paul. Which means anything cute that lands in here usually eventually gets taken to use somewhere else…

But that changes TODAY!

Because I am thrilled to be joining in on the One Room Challenge this spring to give this guest room a fun and fresh makeover. If you aren’t familiar- the One Room Challenge is where you work on a room (like a crazy person) for 8 weeks.  It is very motivating to participate in the challenge because you have accountability to not only start the room…but FINISH THE ROOM! All in 8 weeks time.

I’m nervous to have a “deadline”, but honestly anything I can accomplish in our guest room over the next 8 weeks will be a massive improvement. The room has some great bones and is practically a clean slate right now. I think with just a little love it could be quite adorable. I’d love to make it feel like a boutique hotel when you walk in here. With lots of comfy details. And a welcoming place for all our guests to land. The space isn’t very big, so I definitely want to be sure I am using the space the best way.  I am also planning to give the en-suite bathroom a little glow-up in the process to ensure the two spaces feel united.

I am so grateful for this dedicated guest room. We have had lots of friends and family enjoy this room and I love that it has it’s own bathroom and is tucked away in the house. It is such a comfortable room and now it just needs the love that it deserves.

Be sure to check in every Thursday for the next 8 weeks as I will be sharing a weekly update here with the progress in this room. And then on May 26th I will share the final reveal. Next week I will be sharing my vision. This room may be small, but she is going bold!
