{Happy Fall-i-days} 10 Simple Ways to Bring Fall Home

in Lifestyle on 10/08/13

I am so glad you are joining us for the Fall-i-day Tour of Homes!
You are in for a real treat!
Some awesome bloggy friends have joined up to show their amazing homes. Be sure to click down below to see them all!

I love making my house a home, and nothing feels more like
“home” to me than a house decorated for the holidays.

I had big visions for this Fall-i-day Home Tour, y’all.
My home was going to be fully decked out with fall decor.

But then life got in the way.
It seems the weeks are short and the to-do lists are long.

Rather than stress, I decided that most of you are
probably in a similar situation.

Work, dishes and laundry.

Children, husbands.

Obligations.

Even if you feel short on time,
there are still some simple ways to add fall touches to your home and
feel ready to entertain for any fall gathering.

So, here are my 10 simple, easy, fast and inexpensive
tips  to get into the fall-i-day spirit.

1. Welcome
To welcome guests, just add a few colorful mums to your front entry.
I picked these up at Home Depot for a couple bucks each.

2. Pumpkins
It wouldn’t be fall without pumpkins, right?
This year, I did a little twist to the traditional with these white pumpkin topiaries made with a few thrift store pumpkins.
These pumpkins now adorn the porch and were super easy and inexpensive.
Click here for the full tutorial.
3. Simple Burlap Wreath:

I think adding burlap can make just about anything feel like fall.
Don’t you agree?
Just add a quick burlap bow to any wreath for a simple fall touch.
4. Candy Corn

Pull out a few glass jars and fill ’em up with some candy corn.
CANDY CORN!
This may or may not be already half empty…

5. Fall Scents
Burn a candle with the scents of the season
This Yankee Candle is Candy Corn scented. Yum.

I also like to simmer oranges and cinnamon on the stove.

Just quarter up a few oranges and a teaspoon of cinnamon,
and your home will smell like you have been baking all afternoon.

6. Simple Fall Mantel
I kept my mantel pretty simple this year with  a DIY Horse Pallet art and a few other items I had on hand.
So easy. So free.
For the full tutorial, click here.

7. Pumpkin Flavored Anything
What do I like more than candy corn? Pumpkin.
Just keep a box of yellow cake mix and a can of pumpkin on hand and you are ready to entertain on a moments notice with this easy pumpkin muffin recipe.
And they are so so so tasty.
8. Fun with Words

Who doesn’t have a Scrabble game on hand?
I stuck this in my window sill above the kitchen sink.
So easy. So free. And worth 22 points. Boom.
And it just makes me smile.
And this thrifted plate is sitting out on the counter.
Again, that magical burlap ribbon! ๐Ÿ™‚

9. Chalkboard wall

I love to change up the chalkboard wall with the seasons.

hello fall!
10.  Fall Vignette in Sunroom

For this spot, I just shopped the house and attic gathering anything that looked like fall.
So free. So easy.
Now there is a festive greeting at the back door to welcome guests.

So that’s it!
10 Simple Ways to Bring Fall Home!

I am now ready for nights like this with friends…

and afternoons like this with family…

Because at the end of the day, that is what matters most.

Love pumpkin muffins! We use a box of spice cake mix rather than the yellow and add mini chocolate chips! YUM!! Also found that if I add a smidge of water they are much smoother and bake up prettier! Stumbled upon your blog not long ago- love it! We live up in Rome, so most of the places you mention, we know well!

Erin- love the spice cake mix idea. I actually grabbed a box this weekend to try it out! ๐Ÿ™‚ Love that we are local virtual friends. So glad you said hello!

I loved this post. I so agree with all the obligations in life (work and everything else you listed) but I still want my house decorated. I really want to decorate for my 4 year old who loves pumpkins, Halloween and fall and then there's this whole pregnancy and being 37 weeks pregnant (but he's measuring 2 weeks bigger!) and I'm like "really?! decorate?!" I put a few things up, definitely went with the pumpkins, and let my daughter even paint some. She's happy, I'm happy. Is it blog worthy? Probably not, but it's definitely a memory for her and that's what matters! Thanks for the post. ๐Ÿ™‚

I' so jealous of your white pumpkins on the porch-that was my "vision" but everywhere around here is short on white ones and the one place that had them had a bunch of rotten ones! So my porch has one lone white pumpkin…woe is me! Love your tour and tips!

Thanks Melissa. You are at least a step ahead of me! I didn't even attempt to get real ones this year… so rustoleum heirloom white to the rescue! ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow, Heather. I love that this tour doubled as a fantastic list of tips! And I'm SO going to keep my eyes peeled for a used Scrabble board so I can start incorporating messages into my vignettes. So clever! I also agree – – pumpkin flavored ANYTHING just screams fall. We have a pumpkin pie candle we've been burning non-stop around here. Those photos at the end, though, have to be my favorite part. At the end of the day, that's what it's all about! Thanks for helping to coordinate this awesome hop. I LOVED being a part of it!

Thanks Lauren. Yes- I found two Scrabble games at a local thrift store and have been having some fun. Wouldn't they make great place cards on a table? Loved the blog hop!

These tips are really going to be as a savior to me at the moment, because I have very less time at the moment to do some thing innovative by myself. Thanks a lot for the tips.
