I think everyone can agree that styling shelves can be a challenge. It takes some practice and trial and error to get it right. But I do think that anyone can turn their kitchen cabinets into something pretty with a little effort.
We have one set of glass cabinets in our kitchen. It had been collecting random dishes and cups since we moved in and one day I looked up to realize there was a hodge-podge of tumblers and dishes in the cabinets. Essentially, it was an eyesore and served no functional purpose.
So I stopped right then and there and decided to do something about it!
It only took me about 15 minutes to clear it out and then hunt down some pretty items to replace them with. Bonus- all of these dishes are functional to our real life!
So here my top three tips for styling your glass kitchen cabinets:
THREE TIPS TO STYLE GLASS KITCHEN CABINETS
- Keep it monochromatic. For me, it was only natural that I would have blue and white accents. The copper dishes are functional, and also so pretty with the blue and white! Love these colors together!
- Group similar things together. I tried to keep everything grouped together that belonged together in order to make it more pleasing to the eye. I also tried to stagger the different dishes and colors so that it wasn’t “clumped”.
- Layer. Here you can see how I layered various dishes and cups to the shelves. I placed some plates in the back, and then stacked some bowls or wine glasses. Having lots of different size items helps.

I know things are about to get really busy with the holidays, so maybe today take a few minutes to organize your glass shelves. Read here to see the post when I shared a similar update about styling our glass cabinets at our old house. Apparently even back in 2015, I had a thing for blue, white and metallic!
