{Jacqueline Kennedy Inspired} No-Sew Vintage Scarf Table Runner

in Lifestyle on 06/18/14

I am so excited that it is time for the second month of the Summer Style Soiree! This month, we are honoring the style of Jacqueline Kennedy.  I can’t wait to see what everyone has come up with for their projects- the link up will be live tomorrow!

With the 4th of July almost upon us and since Jackie-O is the definition of American-Style, my inspiration came from her love of scarves with a red, white and blue table runner using vintage scarves.

It’s fun to think about what it would have been like to live back in the ’60’s. There is just something about this decade that intrigues me.

The shift dresses…

 the over-sized sunglasses…

and the scarves.

Seriously, does this woman not just ooze grace and style?

This casual look is just so classic to me.  I mean, in today’s world we wear yoga pants, baseball caps, and aviators. I think it’s time we bring this look back, what do you think ladies? I think we could totally pull this off! 🙂

To make this table runner,  I simply used some heat ‘n bond and my iron to adhere the scarves together.

It was super simple, gotta love a no-sew project!

And the result is a Patriotic Vintage table runner.

It is the perfect compliment to my new Navy & White plates!

And to continue the vintage look, I pulled some of my favorite pieces from my milk glass collection.
And what would an American summer be without watermelon, blueberries and strawberries?
You know I am a sucker for mixing patterns and I love the way these scarves mix together and complement each other.
And here is a wide shot of the table.
Happy Summer!!
Be sure to link up your Jacqueline Kennedy Inspired projects tomorrow!
I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Very cute and creative idea! Yes Jackie was a classic. I was young in the 60's but I remember all of the styles and looks of the time. Scarves were popular also because the ladies frequently had their hair styled at the salon and wanted to protect their big bouffants!

The table runner is very "Groovy". I love the bold geometrics of the scarves, brought together with the traditional red, white and blue. I was young in the 60's also and remember wearing and loving those scarves on my head. The 60's were a pivotal point in our country. In the early 60's (Kennedy era) people did dress nicer, but late 60's everything was anti-establishment, the complete opposite of classic grooming. BTW the room in the picture is gorgeous.
