February is always a tough month to get through and when you add in eleven months of a pandemic, it can feel a little depressing. So when the hubby suggested we escape to Florida for a winter escape- a weekend road trip to 30-A was born! Thank goodness for 3-day weekends and last minute VRBO rentals. We actually took the boys of out of school one day for a fourth night which is nice after the 5.5 hour drive. We did escape hoping for some Florida sunshine and although we had gray skies THE ENTIRE TIME, it still beat the weather back home. By far. So it was a win in our books.
For those of you not familiar with 30-A, it is a two lane road that connects all of the little beach communities in the panhandle of Florida such as Grayton Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove, Alys and Rosemary…
I’ve recapped the highlights of our trip at the bottom of the post.

We have been to 30-A countless times since it is one of the closest beaches to Atlanta. I have been coming here since I was in middle school and have stayed all over the area! We usually stay at my in-laws place in Seagrove but since they were actually down there this time, we rented a house in Watersound which is only a few miles from their house. The house was charming and fit us perfectly, and even came with a golf cart.

There are endless options when it comes to good food in the area! With the pandemic, we were definitely looking for safe and outdoor options and there were plenty. Here are a few suggestions of some of our favorites to check out:
Old Florida Fish House (Seagrove)
Fish Out of Water (Watercolor)
The Great Southern (Seaside)
Seagrove Village Market (Seagrove)
The Donut Hole
Red Bar (Grayton)
The Hub (Watersound)

Well the usual activity in 30-A is head straight to the beach. Obviously, that is not the case in February and we were prepared to have to be a little more creative! However, we still found plenty to do!
Grayton Beach State Park- hike the loop
Beach- we still did lots of playing on the beach and even did a football training camp. Of course the boys splashed around a couple of times.
Seaside Town Center Park- we brought a football and boys ran and played
Sundog Book Store (Seaside)
Sugar Shak (Rosemary)
Bike Ride & Golf Cart Cruising (our house came with both)
House Gawking- of course I could do this all day!
Hiking, beaches, good food. Plenty to stay busy, even in February.

The Donut Hole! Our favorite! With temperatures being so cold here in Texas, I am dreaming of Destin. Thanks for sharing with us.
Looks like you had an enjoy able time…glad you were able to get away!!
