Part 3: The New Playroom (Details)

in Lifestyle on 03/20/14

If you’ve been following along the past couple days, you know we have been busy knocking down a wall and getting our play on!

If you missed the last couple posts:
Read about the before here- Part 1: A New Playroom (Before)
Read about the after here- Part 2: A New Playroom (After)

Today I thought I’d share a couple detail shots of the playroom. So far, we have mostly used what we had on hand but it is working so far! I always like to live with a new space for awhile before buying anything. We just loaded it up with toys, a train table and few fun accessories.

First up, that Tee-Pee! I picked it up last girls weekend for $1 from a yard sale. One dollar, y’all. I think the parents selling it were just so happy that it found a good home! Score!
Oh, and Mr. Big Stuff loves hiding in his “house.” Double Score!

Next- storage! We actually purchased the Expedit Shelf from Ikea to put in the new big boy room. After Mr. SSOM assembled it, we decided it was a better fit to corral all of the toys in this new room. So far, so good.
I found the train table for $10 and have plans to give it a makeover… someday.
For now, it is very very loved by the little! Ramps, trains, cars galore!
Again, ten bucks!?!? Score!
Mr. Big Stuff has surprisingly done a pretty good job of keeping his toys contained to this space. And the best part is that there is actually a PLACE for things to go to be put away. No longer do we have baskets and bins in every corner of the house!
The brown chairs were leftover from when the space was a sunroom.
They are petite and great for floating in the space for the big kids (aka, large and in charge pregnant mommy) to sit while hanging out.
And last but not least, the “makeshift mudroom lockers” that once lived in the office now live in this space.

Drop spot for all purses, jackets, bags… and right by the back door!
(don’t mind the layer of dust- apparently taking a wall down results in dust in every nook and cranny of your home…)

So there you have it- the new playroom. For now! I am sure this space will evolve and continue to get tweaked and reworked to make it work best for our family. I can even see this turning into a family office, dining space or even another den someday… but for now, it is JUST what this family of three, about to be four needs!
