Spring has Sprung in the House

in Lifestyle on 03/27/14

Spring Home Tour
Spring was in full effect this past weekend here in Atlanta, so of course I jumped at the chance to add some spring touches throughout the house.

Color really is the best medicine – especially when it comes in the form of flowers!

Since our family room is a pretty neutral space to begin with, I like to rotate throw pillows and a few accessories here and there depending on the season and my mood. This season, I brought in coral, yellow and more navy.

(Confession: I have lots and lots of throw pillows.
The husband calls it hoarding. I call it decorating.)

I found some super-springy fun bird egg and nest printables and used a couple frames I picked up for $3 each to layer on the large-and-in-charge window frame for some added color. I LOVE the gold frames with the coral mats.

I’ll be back soon with more details on those!

Easter Living Room
A close up of some of the blooms from the yard.

(Reason #864 I love our house: Apparently one of the previous owners was a sweet older lady and a great gardener. We have loads of bulbs that bloom each spring. Of course, my black thumb has done my best to kill these, but even after 4 years living here, they persevere. It is such a fun surprise to see them pop up each spring. )

For the table, I picked up a colorful bouquet from Kroger. It was full of spring time colors and marked down to $10, love those manager specials! and LOVE those blue hydrangeas!
IMG_4575
I found the napkins (for a quarter each?) and am excited to finally get to use them.  They are definitely vintage and just scream spring to me!

More flowers for the Peep Vase- click here to see how I made this.
Super fun, super easy, and super festive!

More blooms from the yard in the kitchen window- our redneck wine glass is sitting in as a vase.

And a simple grass thingy (yes, that is my official name for it) is housing some white wooden eggs.

The front door got a simple muted egg wreath and big old burlap bow.

Happy Spring lovebugs!

I'd say you brought a lot of spring into your room! The birght bold colors are wonderful. Love the floral arrangements. The tulips should just keep coming back for many years without much fuss. Sometimes they get eaten underground by things like voles but overall they should be fine. Leave the leaves to die back before removing them so they will feed the bulbs and keep them going. I got a grass thingy too, but haven't put it into play yet. The eggs look cute tossed on top and I love that wreath!
