{SSOM Home Tour} Summer State of Mind

in Lifestyle on 06/06/14

Welcome to Southern State of Mind! If this is your first time here, I am so glad you are joining me today for the Elements of Summer Home Tour!

For those of you that have been around awhile, you already know I am a serious sucker for anything southern and coastal. Oh and that I have a serious thing for navy blue.

Wouldn’t you agree that summer is perfect collision of all of these elements?

Let’s start things off in the foyer. I hung my DIY Oyster & Spanish Moss wreath to welcome summer guests. And that’s Bella, our ten year old chocolate lab, she is always nearby.

The foyer has some bright orange tassels for summer and of course some more oyster shells in the glass vase.

From the foyer, we make our way into the living room. This is the hub of the house and truly the room in which we live. It recently got a fun refresh with lots of fun summer touches.

With a coastal coral print…
Framed maps on the mantel of our favorite beach destination, Seaside, FL…
Lanterns filled with oysters and other shells scattered on the mantel.
And the driftwood we found last summer while walking the beach in Hilton Head lives in a glass vase.
I love bringing home souvenirs that bring back memories.
Now we will make our way into the dining room. A couple years ago we abandoned our formal dining room for an informal eat-in kitchen.
We are casual people and this turned out to be one of the best decisions we have ever made for the functionality of our home.
A summer beverage station is set out waiting for guests. Hey, any excuse to pull out the beloved Coca-Cola tray!
Next up is the courtyard.
This spot leads to our back door, this is what greets all friends and family. It got a major does of color with pops of red.
Aren’t back door guests are the best guests!?!?
I love pulling out the DIY Nautical American Flag Pallet for the summer too.
Last but not least, the back porch got a dose of color as well. Of course, we are having a BABY in less than three weeks so this spot will serve as a great “getaway” when we can’t *actually* leave the house on our summer evenings!
I hope you enjoyed some of the summer touches in my home.
I am so happy to be a part of the Elements of Summer tour and hope you stop in to say hi to everyone else that is participating!

Thanks so much! I found that vintage window for $2 at a church garage sale, they begged me to take it away! I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but it has definitely come in handy! Thanks for stopping in

Heather, you got me at oyster shells… what a beautiful, creative home! I adore your sense of color and the way you mix different elements. You really have a great sense of style. Where did you get that great piece of art that has name of places on it (I think). It's a wonderful size for that wall! I'm so happy I stopped by and got to visit you and your fabulous home!!!

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again…. I love your house! It's one of my all time favorites. I love how you can change it up for different seasons and everything else too. The blue and white table scape is adorable. I love the plates but the white bowls are adorable. Are they milk glass? And Bella is just too cute.
