2015 Southern State of Mind Christmas Home Tour – The Foyer

in Christmas, holidays on 12/01/15

Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays!

Hi friends! AND just like that- it’s December! Wow, 31 days left of 2015. Is anyone else finding that really hard to believe?! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Ours was good and actually pretty relaxing despite the Sweets getting colds. It’s always nice when the family get together!

It was nice to end the Thanksgiving holiday with a low-key weekend and I was happy to put the finishing touches on the Christmas decor around the house. So today I thought I would kick off sharing the tour of the house decked out for the holidays.

Welcome! Come on in. Today it’s all about the foyer.

I really went traditional this year with our Christmas decor and kept it pretty simple using a consistent tartan ribbon throughout. Of course, the Nutcrackers came out and took center stage. I layered a couple mirrors I had on hand and love them against the navy wall.

The DIY silhouettes are probably my favorite part. I just grabbed some wooden plaques from Michael’s and added the silhouettes. I still plan to share my simple tutorial soon for making these.

The lamps got some Greek key ribbon trim that I found at Hobby Lobby. It’s amazing how something so simple can make such an impact. I just used some glue dots to stick them on.

I love the tartan plaid ribbon that carries through the rooms.

Tip: this is actually fabric that I cut into strips to make ribbon. So many options and WAY less expensive than ribbon!

Sweet Bella is always nearby. I think she makes the perfect accessory. 🙂

I love the mommy and mini wellies lined up.

There is a glimpse of the tree in the family room. I’ll be back tomorrow with more pictures of that room. If you follow me on Instagram, you know we went BIG with our tree this year.  I LOVE IT! But what you don’t know is that the tree tipped over one morning. Wah, wah, wah. But it is now tethered to the wall so here’s hoping she stays put for the next couple weeks.

Be sure to check back tomorrow as we continue the tour into the family room. and HAPPY DECEMBER!

xoxo-

Heather

Love the “ribbon”! Where’d you find the fabric? I’ve been looking for similar fabric to make a tree skirt.

Hey! I actually got a big spool of it from the thrift store awhile back. It was only about a foot wide but a huge spool. Wish I could help source it for you!

I love love love everything you have done to the foyer. I’m glad to see the nut crackers
made the cut again this year. Sweet Bella looks right at home and she doesn’t bother with the tree?! I’ve already seen some disasters on Facebook of what pets can do!
    Keep decorating~!

The nutcrackers against the navy wall, with those touches of gold in the mirror frames, absolutely made me catch my breath. Simply stunning! Lovely to be participating in this blog tour with you. xoxo
