What is it about the blogging world that everyone is so nice? Seriously, it’s like this amazing pool of women who are totally inspiring and genuinely awesome. I have found so many women that inspire me, not only creatively, but inspire me to be a better mom, wife and overall person.
Case in point: Jennifer at Dimples and Tangles.
Not only is she infinitely creative, she has such a talent for accessorizing her home. AND she has a darling family and a passion for the Lord. Oh, and she likes to go garage sale-ing.
Read on to hear more about what makes her tick, and go ahead and block an hour to peruse her blog! It will suck you in! 🙂
Hello Southern State of Mind Readers! I know you’d just like to be seeing more photos of adorable Baby Brooks, but I’m grateful for Heather allowing me to share with you today! I’ve enjoyed getting to know her this summer and sharing projects for the Summer Style Soiree, and I’m honored to be her guest here.
1. OMG! Nate Berkus is on his way over – which room in your home would you show him first?
Well, that’s a tough question. If I’m showing him my favorite space, it would be my Breakfast Nook. It has a super-economical DIY Botanical Wall and refinished TJ Maxx chairs paired with an yard sale antique table that my Dad refinished and sent with us to our first apartment, over 20 years ago!!
But, actually I’d really want to drag him to the spot that needs a LOT of help…our Master Bath. Now, no judging, but just so you’ll know what’s ahead of us…I’ll show you a photo of where it is currently.
Blech. SO not my style anymore, and it needs some major remodeling changes other than cosmetic things. It’s long overdue for a makeover, and I need some ideas and suggestions. I’m sure Mr. Berkus could get us headed in the right direction!
2. Ain’t nobody got time for hard or expensive projects! Which project has given you the most bang for your buck, that you knocked out in less than an hour?
It probably took a little longer than an hour (but not much!), but updating the ceiling fans in my childrens’ rooms is one of the best decisions I made in there. They are used too much to replace with a regular light fixture, but giving them some personality sure did help. It took them from an eyesore to a highlight of the space! This one is in my daughter’s room:
Lamps. I’m a little addicted. I’m counting and right now there are 8 just in my living room!! Not only do they provide nice indirect lighting at night, but I like to choose interesting and unusual ones that stand on their own as an accessory, yet still complement their surrounding area nicely.

4. Who doesn’t love a great before and after? Which one is your fave?
|
My favorite before and after is usually the one I’ve just completed, so in this case that would be my son’s room. This photo is sort-of more of a “middle” shot, since when we started with the room it was literally an empty white box, but the difference is still evident here.
His room is packed full of DIY projects, like the fence planked wall, DIY custom fit bedskirt, and some original artwork for a gallery wall. I tried to find the right balance of including things that would make him happy (Legos and his favorite things displayed), and elements that would make a decor-loving mom happy.
5. And now, let’s get really deep – which project best defines Dimples & Tangles?
Well, my blog name was inspired by my kids, (his Dimples and her Tangles), and they’re my greatest project ever!
But, this recent sofa table makeover probably best defines my style. It’s bold and colorful, glam, quirky, and has my favorite black, white, and green mixed in.
I can’t wait to meet you!
Keep spoiling that darling baby boy!
Thanks Jennifer, for stopping in! I told you she has a knack for accessorizing and combing colors and patterns. And she didn’t even mention here her wall of green mirrors, one of the projects that has landed her in Ladies Home Journal and Good Housekeeping.
Now if only I could arrange a garage sale-ing morning with her…

First of all, can we talk about how cute your blog design is? Love it! Thanks so much for having me over today, Heather, and I'm totally up for a garage sale morning! Wish we could!
Heather says
Thanks Jennifer! I had a random burst of creative juices last week and diy'ed the blog makeover. Crazy how refreshing a little change on the ol' blog can be! Thanks so much for sharing your projects. And yes serious on the garage saleing although we would probably fight over the same stuff! 😉

Adore Jennifer, and her made design skills. And, can we talk about how cute her kiddos are?!!! Loved reading more about how she approaches things. Glad to hear she has 8 lamps in her living room. We need more lighting in ours for sure!!
