Today marks one month until Christmas! I will wait while you either do a happy dance or stop yourself from hyperventilating. 🙂
As much as I love this time of year, it certainly can be stressful. If you are hosting guests this holiday season, that can definitely add to the stress! Never fear! I believe that with just a few simple touches around your home, your guests will think Santa made a special early trip for them. Here are some ideas on how you can be the hostess with the mostess this holiday!
1. Bathroom Basics
OK, so your house may not be the Ritz. But why not set some fancy soaps out anyway? Remember that Dollar Tree Tiered Stand we made a couple weeks back? It’s not only useful for food- it would be darling in the bathroom too. Set a basket out that includes any toiletries your guests may have forgotten. I also like to set out an extra hair dryer, fresh towels and some bottled water. For the extra festive touch, I add some Peppermint scented lotions and shower gels.
2. Fluff the Beds
One of the easiest ways to add some festivities is with some festive bedding. This red toile duvet makes the room feel like it’s ready for a visit from Santa. A nice comfy throw helps to add some texture and extra warmth.
And I don’t mean sprinkle glitter everywhere…although that sounds like fun! I am referring to the cleaning part. Whomp, whomp. I don’t have a magic toilet cleaner fairy but a clean house is a must for those holiday guests!
A really simple way I prep the guest room is with some fresh flowers. Actually, you know I like to just grab some clippings for a DIY bouquet from the yard and the winter is not an exception. I place a little vase on the nightstand with some free greenery and red berries from the yard. This is so simple, but a nice gesture to show that the room has been prepped and awaiting your guests!
5. Coffee Station
I am reeeeeaaaaallllly into coffee these days. Blame it on baby #2, being home with the boys or just the weather, but I am seriously enjoying that cup of coffee every morning. I know my guests are coffee drinkers too so I set up a little coffee station for them. This way when my guests get up and I am searching for my three year old’s sippy cup or nursing the baby and they can help themselves in the morning.
Love all of these ideas Heather! I have finished the main decorating (with the exception of outside) and am looking forward to adding a few more smaller touches such as these. Do you remember where you got that gorgeous plaid throw?
Love that you are already decorated! The throw is old and there is no tag on it. But a big plaid scarf across a bed for some pattern mixing might be cute!
Great ideas!
Thanks!
Oh super ideas. I need to fluff my bathroom a little.
Thanks Marty!
I'm half way between a happy dance and hyperventilating! Your house is beautiful! Thanks for the tips!
