Southern State of Mind Blog by Heather

DeClutter with an Utterly Cute Jewelry Shutter

in Lifestyle, Organize on 08/28/13

I like jewelry.
I blame this on my mother. 100%. Completely genetic.
She is the queen of fun jewelry.
So, it’s not my fault that I have a growing collection.
I was born with the gene!

My mom made herself a cool shutter to display her necklaces.
Lucky me, she had an extra one.

So now I have one too!!

This DIY project is EASY!
Just give your shutter a quick coat of paint.
I chose black.

Then, hammer many, many, many, small nails around the shutter.
Use your necklaces as your guide. Short, long, skinny, fat etc.
I also read that you could use S-hooks or Ornament hooks.
But I had lots of little nails on hand. So that is what I used.

I decided to organize my necklaces according to color.

Orient the shutter so that you can hang earrings from the wood as well!
I learned this one the hard way…

Time to accessorize! Go bold! Make a statement!

No more tangled necklaces in the morning when I am getting ready for work!

How do you organize your jewelry?
Do you also have a thing for necklaces?
Tell me I am not alone!

Such a clever idea! I turned a framed cork board in to a jewelry holder by adding vintage glass knobs to hold my necklaces. I like that on yours you can hook on earrings – that's something I need to get organized!

Love that idea with a cork board and vintage knobs! The earrings are still something I need to sort through. There is a heap of them that need to be sorted. Baby steps, right? GOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!!!

I love this! I'm currently working on a necklace holder too. Hopefully it'll be on my blog next week (my pregnancy, 4 year old, and work are kicking my booty). But I don't have as many as you. Those are some great necklaces!
