Hello hello! We are up in Charlotte visiting friends this weekend but I wanted to pop in with a quick DIY tip for you. As you know I recently wallpapered our powder room with some inexpensive navy grasscloth wallpaper. Another thing that made a huge difference in this room was giving the shiny chrome accessories a coat of Oil Rubbed Bronze (ORB) spray paint. ORB is the perfect paint to maintain a metallic finish, but give it a modern rubbed bronze/ black finish.
I have gone through countless cans of this spray paint throughout the years. We have several air vents that are built into the floor instead of the walls. They were a boring brown color and I instantly upgraded their look with some ORB spray paint. I have also painted dresser knobs, pots for my plants, picture frames, mirrors. I have read that people have used on door knobs and shower fixtures although I have never attempted this.
This spray paint is perfect for fixtures because it still looks like metal. For the bathroom items, I just laid them out on some cardboard…
grabbed the ORB and gave them several light coats of spray paint… (it’s hard to paint while taking a picture, ha)
and it instantly transformed the fixtures. The nice thing is that it can help unify fixtures in a space that may not match.
For this bathroom, I painted the towel ring, light fixture and plain builder grade light switch.
Here you can see the before with the shiny chrome.
And here are those same fixtures with the oil rubbed bronze paint.
So easy! I promise! Just do light coats.
Happy weekend! xoxo-
