Happy Spring y’all! Spring is definitely in the air in Atlanta, and the pollen has arrived. (and so has my daily intake of allergy medicine) Each year I truly am amazed by the beauty of spring and the bounty of flowers around town. This weekend was an extra special fun spring weekend because we spent a whirlwind 24 hours over at Reynolds Plantation celebrating my birthday. It was so nice to have a super relaxing getaway and of course I am so thankful that my parents generously watched the boys. It was our first time visiting Reynolds and I am certain it will not be the last. Today I am sharing a fun Stove Top Air Freshener recipe to simmer on your stove!
While spring is definitely in the air and the temps are perfections, with the crazy pollen, we usually keep our windows shut this time of year. No one likes a layer of pollen dust, especially if allergies are a concern. So, I turned to another solution to bring some spring scents indoors without the sneezes. Just a few simple ingredients to make this Stove Top Air Freshener- Rosemary, Lemon & Vanilla- is all you’ll need.
Last fall I shared a simple fall stovetop simmer recipe and I was hooked on the concept. Simmering a couple ingredients on the stove truly does make your home smell so delicious and I love that it is all natural ingredients. For the spring version, I just snipped some Rosemary, sliced some lemons and added vanilla to some water. It smells DIVINE.
Ingredients – Stove Top Air Freshener
- Fresh Rosemary
- 1 Sliced Lemon (I did wedges)
- Dash of Vanilla (I get mine at Trader Joes)
- 2 Cups Water
Instructions – Stove Top Air Freshener
- Add all ingredients into a pot, simmer on low. As it simmers down, you can add more water as needed.
- I used one batch several times and even put in a jar between uses in my fridge with no problems. (except for the sideways glance from the hubby wondering what kind of science experiment I had in the fridge, ha)
Rumor has it this is also what Williams-Sonoma simmers in their stores. Not sure if this is true, but let’s run with it, mmmmkay?
Happy SPRING!
xoxo-

Such a great idea and I’m going to try it!

Yes, it smells YUM. But not as YUM as a carrot cake in the oven. 🙂

I use the same combo, but in essential oils in our diffuser. Love it! And yes, it is known as the PB and WS scent.

oooooh- interesting! I have some of the essential oils- the starter kit- wonder if I have these ingredients? Good to know!

I’m on it! My husband has been sharing all the information he’s reading on the dangers of burning candles in your home, IE: all the toxins released into the air. This sounds like a yummy healthy alternative. As a candle lover I’m having a hard time parting with my burning habit!
Heather says
Interesting on the candle toxins. Definitely try the stovetop simmer! The possibilities are endless.

Great idea, Heather! I always feel like the house needs this after being closed up all winter. Off to start my brew. 🙂
