Front Porch Coffee Talk

in Front Porch Coffee Talk on 02/14/20

Good morning and happy Valentine’s Day my loves! I don’t say it enough, but I am so truly grateful for each of you that join me here on my little corner of the internet every day. When I started blogging, I had no idea what I was doing. And while I still feel that way sometimes, I am so thankful for this creative outlet that continues to challenge me to continue to learn new things, try new things and have loads of fun while doing it! I am thankful for every single comment and virtual cup of coffee we share here every week. If I could, I would send each of you a pretty heart shaped Valentine. But since I can’t, let’s grab our coffee and a handful of conversation hearts and get to it! It’s time for our weekly FRONT PORCH COFFEE TALK.

ATLANTA STAYCATION HERE WE COME

These Friday’s sure do seem to come around quick and this one was no exception. I am especially excited for this weekend since it’s a three day weekend and we have something super unique planned. We are doing a true Atlanta Staycation! A local hotel reached out and asked if we would be interested in joining them this weekend so we are staying at the newly remodeled Whitley. This is the old Ritz in Buckhead and I am so excited to check it out. Also- three words: INDOOR. HEATED. POOL. Need I say more? I will be sharing tidbits of our weekend on Instagram so be sure to follow along!

CUTE BLOUSE ON MAJOR SALE!

I stopped into the mall last week to make a return and of course I couldn’t leave without popping into J. Crew. They had lots of stuff on sale and I snagged this fun rust colored blouse. I love the fun ruffle on the sleeve. The best part is that it is is on sale for only $22- SNAG IT LADIES.  I love the fit- it is loose and the fabric is light and is super comfy but makes you feel put together. In fact, I wore it to my bible study and everyone was like- whoa where are you going after this Heather? (Ha. Clearly I need to stop showing up in my athleisurewear every week.) The shirt is final sale, which always makes it hard to pull the trigger. But I can vouch for this one! I am wearing a medium. I may grab that light blue color as it would be perfect for spring transition…

RUFFLE SLEEVE BLOUSE- only $22 with code WEEKEND    BLACK JEANS

IT’S OFFICIALLY LOST

You know when you can’t find something? And you dig and hunt and tear your house up? And then you ransack the attic and dump out all the tubs and basically become obsessed laying in bed at night trying to figure out where it could be? Well that was me this past Sunday! We are heading out on our first full family ski trip next month and I figured it would be a great day to start packing and gathering gear. So I pulled the two tubs out of storage that were so thoughtfully labeled “SKI GEAR” and I started to lay everything out. Well, the tubs were empty and my ski pants and jacket were no where to be found.

NO WHERE.

Mom- if you are reading this, please come help me! 🙂

A PRETTY OFFICE

Don’t you love when a simple Instagram picture provides inspiration? I saw this post from Paige at The Pink Clutch and just loved her organized and adorable memo board. The next morning I found myself sprucing up my office nook, taking down old notes off my bulletin board and doing some rearranging. I also finally tackled that “pile.” You know the pile I am talking about…  the pile of papers that seem to endlessly stack up. I do love the snowball effect to getting organized and am thankful for this little picture that started that surge of energy!

IT TAKES 60 SECONDS

I surprised the boys with little notes in their lunches this week along with a few conversation hearts. I know the days are fleeting when they will appreciate this, particularly my big guy. I know it made them smile because they both said thanks. It’s the little things mamas!

PUSSY WILLOWS AT TRADER JOE’S

I bought a pack of these Pussy Willows from Trader Joe’s last year and I noticed they were back in stock this week at my TJ’s! They come in packs of 10 stems for $4.99. You can see what I did with them last year here– I love the height they added to the spring flower arrangements! Grab yourself a pack if you see them. I think I may try some in my outdoor front porch planters this year.

MAMMOGRAM

No one likes it. But you got to do it. Glad to be able to check this one off until next year. PSA if you need to pick up the phone to make your appointment ladies.

SPEAKING OF MAMMOGRAMS…

How’s that for a lead in? I am officially less than 40 days away from my 40th birthday. I am at peace with it. (mostly.) I am an 80’s baby and have always been on the cusp between Generation X and Millenials as the cut off is somewhere in the early 80’s. I personally relate more to Gen X for lots of reasons. But no matter where I land, I am just thankful that I made it through college without social media and cell phones and the whole circus today. We even had to deal with LONG DISTANCE phone calls and then ROAMING CHARGES y’all! Ha ha. The good ol’ days…before pulled muscles and Spanx…

WEEKEND SALES

Last but not least, there are tons of great sales this President’s Day weekend. Here are a few I have my eye on:

J CREW:  extra 50% sale items and 30% off full price. Snag yourself that rust blouse and a few new pieces to add for your wearable wardrobe.

LOFT: Full price items are 40% off! I have my eye on this poncho and this dress.

J CREW FACTORY: Everything is 40-60% off!

OLD NAVY: I recently shared my Old Navy haul- some great staples to add to your wearable wardrobe. See the post here.

I love reading your stuff Heather! This old lady is getting a sleep # mattress delivered today😂😂. Beyond that cooking a meal for someone who needs it and playing a little golf. Works for me!

I feel you on losing things. I misplaced one of my daughters Christmas presents. I searched everywhere and no luck, so I ordered a replacement. Within the next week, I found the present. So order a new jacket and pants, and you’ll find your old ones. That’s my theory at least, or bury a St Anthony.

Ha ha! Yep- my new stuff has arrived and I am still crossing my fingers that it will turn up. Although now I have lots of sweet friends offering me their stuff so may borrow a few things. Losing things is SO annoying and I am glad you were able to find your Christmas present! 🙂

Heather…I wish I could help find your ski jacket, but I won’t be back in town until after your trip. I don’t remember you ever saying anything about getting rid of it either. Maybe it’s in a tub marked winter? Maybe it’s time for a new one! Good luck!

Thanks Laura! I absolutely love writing them. No pretty pics, or clean house, or fresh flowers necessary ha ha. It’s so refreshing! We had a great time at the Whitley!
