Front Porch Coffee Talk

in Front Porch Coffee Talk on 07/30/20

Hi friends! How is it already the last day of July? For having nowhere to go, time sure is still flying by. The last two weeks have been splendidly boring and the boys have really enjoyed the down time around the house. And I’m not going to lie- I have too!  We are starting the countdown of days left before school starts (only two weeks from today on August 14th) and my head is spinning a bit. But let’s be real, I don’t actually know a single mother without their head spinning at this point. I missed last week’s chat, so let’s catch up now!  Grab your coffee and meet me on the porch, it’s time for this week’s Front Porch Coffee Talk.

SWEET P TURNS 9!

Tomorrow our first born “baby” turns NINE! He is sweet and loving and I am amazed at watching him become a young man. So thankful for him. We are hosting a small birthday celebration this afternoon and I know he is excited to see a few buddies.

LIGHTNING

We’ve had quite a busy week around here dealing with the aftermath of lightning hitting a tree in our backyard last Saturday. We were not home when it happened (fortunately) but came home to our water flooding at the street and no power. We were able to get the power back up and running fairly quickly, but we did not have any running water for around 48 hours and one of our AC units was out! Phew. Fast forward and we have now had an electrician, plumber, HVAC, Alarm Company and tree company out to get things back up and running. Never a dull moment these days… #2020.

J. CREW SALE

J. Crew is having some great end of season sales. Right now they are offering an additional 72% off already discounted items! You can shop the whole sale HERE and this cute blouse shown below HERE. And this smocked shirt is UNDER $5!!! It’s worth spending a few minutes digging around, there are some great options on sale.

LAKE TOXAWAY

We are heading on our final family hoorah of the summer and will be heading up to Lake Toxaway again. I shared this little slice of heaven with you last year with this Lake Toxaway Trip Recap .  I am looking forward to having a few quiet days with just the four of us before the craze of the school year starts back up.

WALMART STYLE

I snagged this cute white blouse from Walmart and you won’t believe the price… it’s only $10! It has a cute square neck line and balloon sleeves. I love this blouse with jeans and fun earrings for a classic look.

I also grabbed these two denim jackets. They are only $16 each. I had been wanting a white jean jacket for a couple years and then I just couldn’t leave this light denim one behind. The medium is a perfect fit for me and I am blown away at how cute they are and for such a great price!

Last but not least, I also snagged these darling mules on clearance for $9. They are actually pretty comfy and the heel is a great height for me. My store had lots of sizes so it might be worth checking out your store shoe department if you are there.  You can actually check your store availability online here.

PROGRESS || SWEET P’s BEDROOM MAKEOVER

We’ve made a few more updates to Sweet P’s room. In case you missed the last Front Porch Coffee Talk, we are giving his room a good ol’ fashioned makeover. The goals are to make it more functional and represent his personality better. (and let’s face it, a place to do school when/if we are home again) Using what we have and adding what we need- I hope to have this room whipped into shape by the time school starts. I’m excited that we are getting closer to being “done”!

This week we finished three more things on the to do list:

Office Chair

Lego Storage

Football Storage

Hi, Heather ~ love your posts and look forward to getting each. The Minecraft Lego framed poster in your son’s bedroom remodel photos caught my eye since I have 2 grandsons who are all into Minecraft! Wondering if you would share the source of the framed poster. Thanks!

Hi there! Sorry for my delay, I am just getting caught up after traveling… We found the Minecraft poster at our local Five Below. Do you have one of those stores? I had the frame here and just repurposed it. I was shocked at how cute it turned out! I did find the same one available to order at Target- here is the direct link: https://rstyle.me/+giWescUzOugwdpXuFOzIsw
