It sometimes feels like more has happened in the last 44 weeks than happened in an entire decade of my life! Another significant week for our nation as we inaugurated our 46th President and first female VP. Did you watch the ceremony? I caught a few minutes here and there and appreciate the rituals and long standing traditions of our great country. I pray that they are both successful leaders for all Americans. But enough about that (more on this topic below), grab your coffee and meet me on the porch it’s time for our Front Porch Coffee Talk .
OVER IT
OK. Here is the thing, I am a Stay At Home Mom & Blogger. I like to talk about recipes and clothes and other fun and light lifestyle things here on the blog and on my Instagram- and quite honestly in real life too. Do I have opinions? YES. Do I want to discuss them with strangers on the internet? NO. This past year has been hard and weird for everyone, and everyone is entitled to do whatever THEY please. Your platform = your content. However, I am DONE DONE DONE going on social media and feeling shamed because I am not properly discussing “all the things”. I am done with the judgement and the pressure. If you want to discuss politics – there are 80 billion other sources. If you want to chat over coffee about the latest book you are reading- my front porch is always open. And this picture doesn’t exactly relate, but it makes me laugh. I am not expert on politics or pandemics- nor will I ever pretend to be.
Rant over. Carry on.
FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
We enjoyed a family movie night last Friday and watched The War with Grandpa. It was cute and something we all enjoyed. My oldest had actually read the book so he was excited to see it as a movie and kept noticing things that were different in the movie than in the book. PS- Um, when did my first born become old enough to have “read the book” before watching the movie?!?!
TARGET DRESS SALE
Target is currently running 30% off all of their adorable dresses. I snagged up this one for around $20- I have had my eye on it for a few weeks so figured it was time to pull the trigger! I also ordered this one, hoping it’s cute for a spring transition dress.
VALENTINE LOVE
Last year I shared this sweet little project that I did for the boys where I put a heart on their door every morning with something I love about them for the first 14 days of February. If you want to join in this year- you just need to be ready on February 1st. Spoiler Alert- My boys loved it. 🙂 To see all things Valentine’s Day from past years- you can click HERE.
BLOG HEADQUARTERS
I have been slowly updating my little office nook in the house and I am loving the changes so far. The big one was removing a large bulletin board that made the space feel cluttered and replacing it with some fun art. I am not sure if I’ve even shared my office nook before… but I will definitely do a full post once it’s done… or more done… because nothing is ever really done around here!
RECIPE BOOK PRINTABLE
This week I shared how I updated my recipe book and WOW did I get lots of feedback from you! Turns out organizing recipes is a serious sore spot for lots of you. I am so glad I could help inspire to get organized yourself. In case you missed it, I am offering a 9 page printable to help gussy up a recipe binder. You can read all about it here.

Just discovered your blog and wanted to say that I love it. I also love that you plan on keeping it fun and not heavy/political! I’ve stopped reading some other blogs I used to follow because it just got to be too much.

So appreciative of your keeping it “unpolitical” I love your blog just the way it is. Thank you.

Love the Target shirtdress, although the stripes in the skirt do not match and that would really bother me. I have been making my own clothing for a long time and was trained to match stripes. Other than that the dress is awesome.

Thank you so much for taking this approach on politics! The last thing the world needs right now is everyone offering their opinion on everything. I wish celebrities and professional athletes would take the same approach.

Thanks for reminder about the February hearts. My boys loved this last year. Just put construction paper on the list.

Keep doing what you do with the blog. You are right if you want politics – there are many platforms to explore.
I appreciate your “what I’m reading” posts. I am currently reading “One Day in December” by J. Silver, thanks to your recommendation. I have ordered other books in the past based on your recommendations.
I often am frustrated when you post about clothes. Not really your fault— I am often a “day late and a dollar short” by the time I decide! However, as for dresses, I’d love to order, BUT no place to wear them at the present. One recent purchase based on a post – the red tartan shoes! They said they were sold out so I asked to be notified. They DID notify me and I JUMPED on the purchase button. Wore them on Christmas day.
