Here we are on week 5 of the One Room Challenge! I am so behind that I am actually a day late this week posting my master bedroom update.
I lost some steam last week but for a great reason- SISTER was in town all week! Then we had the family girls weekend and it took a few days to get back in the swing of things…just in time for the little guy to have a double ear infection.
I knew when I took on the challenge that I was being quite lofty in my to-do list…
and unless my fairy godmother shows up sometime over the next 6 days, I don’t think I will quite finish it all.
But overall, I am SUPER pleased with the progress I have made. The way I see it is that either way, the room already looks 100% better and it has been so great to have this kick in the pants to keep me going. The good news is that no room in my home is ever “DONE” so I can always continue to plug away on things when time permits.
The big update this week is the dresser wall. I hung a large white round mirror that was up in the attic. I also made some colorful botanical artwork to surround the mirror.
I picked up these frames for $2 each and gave them a coat of navy spray paint. The botanical prints were found for free online and to have them printed was around $5.
As I mentioned a few weeks back, I am really loving botanical prints these days and was happy to find a spot to put some in the master. I like how they tie in the coral from the drapes and add a dash of girliness to the room. (sorry honey)
Sadly, the kelly green that I was hoping to bring into this room isn’t really working out but I still hope to find a way to bring some green into the house for summer in the family room.
I played musical lamps around the house and swapped in this blue and white one from my cloffice. It’s not perfect, but for about $15 spent on this wall, I’d say it’s a big improvement!
I would still love to paint this dresser navy blue and get new hardware but realistically that is probably not going to happen this go round.
In other news, the mirrors that I added to the wardrobe got a coat of paint. Last time I left off, they had white frames. Te remind you, this is what it looked like:
I liked them but it still just felt off…
So I decided to paint these Knock-Off Ballard mirrors with Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint to make them look more like built ins on the wardrobe.
Originally I thought the white would make them pop off the wardrobes in a good way… turns out they just looked like 5 wall mirrors plastered up. Now they feel more like something that was supposed to be there all along.
Last but not least, I hung this starburst mirror that used to be in the foyer above the bed. (and PS, I have a surprise foyer update for you soon! because apparently I like to take on multiple projects at a time…)
This really isn’t that impressive except I hung it with an anchor all by myself. For those of you who think you need your husband to hang things, it’s just not true!! JUST DO IT!
This week my focus will be on bedding and overall zhushing of the space. At this point, I don’t think any other big projects will be tackled because I am hosting a baby shower next weekend. I may or may not have one million little projects I am trying to wrap up around the house.
Hello, fairy godmother… are you listening?!?!? 🙂
Can’t wait to share the whole package next week! STAY TUNED!!!!
To follow along with the progress here is a recap of each week:

I just LOVE how it's coming along, and you are right, the mirrors look like they were meant to be there now that you painted the frames. Perfect!

Where did you get the botanical prints? I am also a lover of navy.
