Happy happy April y’all!
And boy is it going to be a busy one around here. There is SO much fun stuff planned- and I can’t wait to share it all with you. First, I am THRILLED to be joining up with the One Room Challenge again this spring. If you were around here last year, you saw how I whipped the master bedroom into shape. It was a mad dash to pull it together in six weeks but I am so happy I took the challenge on. This year I am planning to give the kitchen/dining wing a makeover and I will share the deets tomorrow. Wednesday is the Swap it Like It’s Hot Challenge where I share an item I upcycled along with a fun group of bloggers. I am also partnering with At Home and HGTV on a spring makeover on the porch AND of course, we have our Derby party to plan.
Woo woo! I told you it was going to be a fun (and busy!) month!
Last week I shared that we are planning to host our first Derby party and I hope you are feeling inspired to host one too! Before the week gets too crazy, we need to get the invitations squared away. I figured I would make it SUPER easy for you and show you what I am doing so you won’t have to do the homework. Obviously, there are lots of great choices if you want to mail yours, but I’d much rather spend my party funds on fresh red roses and wine so I went with a free option. #priorities
Invitation:
I looked at both Evite and Paperless Post and they both had good horse themed options. But ultimately I landed on this option from Paperless Post- it’s called “Mint”.
Timing:
I looked at the official Kentucky Derby website to figure out the timing and it looks like the race coverage is from 4-7pm with the actual Derby race being at 6:34. Since I am only planning to have light BBQ on the menu, I am having it “end” at 7pm so people can make post dinner plans if they desire.
Instructions:
Hats Yes, Kids No. (unless you can “wear” them too). Ha, what can I say, I kept it nice and sweet. With our guest list, if we invited kids, it would easily become a COMPLETE circus and double the guest list size so we are keeping it adults only. But with several friends with babies, of course I wanted them to feel like they could bring the little ones- so if they can “wear” them, they are welcome.
Alright, cross invites off the list y’all. We are off and running now. Be sure to check back tomorrow to see the plans for the One Room Challenge makeover! Eek!
xoxo-
Heather
