Today I am back with another fun Dollar Store craft that is perfect for the holidays. A huge thanks to my Blog BFF Rachael for coordinating this fun series. I love a good reason to craft, but even more this time of year. For my project I made a DIY Dollar Tree Cupcake Stand that I will use for a hot cocoa bar. I actually made one several years ago that was similar, but never thought to paint the middle part a fun festive color. This Dollar Tree Cupcake Stand is super easy and is one of my most pinned projects on Pinterest so I figured it would be a fun one to revisit this year.
SUPPLIES NEEDED: DIY Dollar Tree Cupcake Stand
– Pizza Pan (Dollar Tree/ $1)
– Round Cake Pan for (Dollar Tree/ $1)
– Pie Pan for (Dollar Tree/ $1)
– Two Clear Candlesticks (Dollar Tree/ $1 each)
– Clear Gorilla Glue
– Red Spray Paint
In addition to the Dollar Tree supplies listed, you will need clear Gorilla Glue (make sure it’s CLEAR) and red spray paint. Which of course if you are a craft hoarder like me you already have on hand…but if not, you can pick up both for around $10.
DIRECTIONS FOR DIY Dollar Tree Cupcake Stand
Step 1: DIY Dollar Tree Cupcake Stand
Spray paint the clear candlesticks. I chose a fun and festive bright red but really any color would work.
Step 2: DIY Dollar Tree Cupcake Stand
Glue the pizza pan to one of the painted candlesticks. Once glued, use a heavy tray or books to add weight while it dries.
Step 3: DIY Dollar Tree Cupcake Stand
Continue gluing the pieces together until you have your tiered stand.
From the top to the bottom you will have:
I let it all sit for 24 hours before I started using it. Remember that Gorilla Glue expands when drying so be careful how much you use.
I was inspired this year to use the tiered tray as part of my coffee and hot chocolate station and can’t wait to have it set up for Christmas when our family arrives. I also found these cute Santa mugs at the Dollar Tree. (totally not as cute as the Pottery Barn ones but we use these for one month a year, right?)
If you are having a large party and needed to serve several desserts this would be such a cute and easy way to create a cute display. If you wanted varying heights you could make some with different levels. Here it is with only one tier and desserts.
This really is such a versatile project! I also love using it in a bathroom with rolled towels and toiletries for guests.
