Well we certainly cannot forget one of my favorite topics as part of our “22 Ways to Inspire Your 2022” series – so let’s talk books! Specifically- I’m sharing five books you should add to your to-be-read list this year. Now, I can’t say these are my all-time-favorites because it’s impossible for me to pick favorites. I would need to have a favorite list for each category of books from historical fictions, to beach reads and psychological thrillers, to novels, biographies…you get the idea.
However, these five books are ones that have stuck with me and that I find myself recommending when someone asks me what to read next.
Just another nugget of inspiration for you as we work through our “22 Ways to Inspire Your 2022”!

A few years ago, I set a goal to read at least 8 books a year. I am so happy to report that 2021 is my third year that I have exceeded this goal. Last year I ended up at 15 books for the year! Now that the kids are older (and I’m not on high alert at all times while near pools and on vacation), I am setting the goal to read 12 books per year. Which shouldn’t be a problem as my to-be-read list is growing longer by the day.

Whether you read one book a year or thirty, if you are looking for a few books to add to your to-be-read book list, here are five must reads:
- American Dirt- Jeanine Cummins
This was on the top of my list for my favorite book I read last year. It just pulled me in from page one and I could not put it down. The perspective of a mother as an illegal immigrant was eye opening and heart breaking and the entire story just has you completely enthralled. - The Nightingale- Kristin Hannah
This book. Wow. I read it three years ago and it has just stayed with me! It is my favorite World War 2 historical fiction. I also enjoyed The Great Alone and Firefly Lane by this author and have The Four Winds on my to-be-read list. - It Ends With Us – Colleen Hoover
This book will give you ALL THE FEELS! I was so emotional when reading it, so beware! But it really grabs your heartstrings and is such a powerful story. - Where The Crawdads Sing- Delia Owens
Well unless you’ve been living under a rock you have probably read this one, but I had to include Where The Crawdads Sing. It is coming out as a movie this year so if you haven’t read it, now is the time! - Daisy Jones and The Six- Taylor Jenkins Reid
I have now read three books by Taylor Jenkins Reid and I have absolutely loved them all. While it’s hard to pick my favorite among them- Daisy Jones and the Six was just such a unique read and it had me completely entertained cover to cover. It’s just such a fun read and I think I read it in two days!

A Southern favorite book of mine for this year was Call Your Daughter Home. The audio was EXCELLENT!

I must say that I have read quite a few of the books on your list and I’m like you, cannot pick
favorite. I have too many favorites. I just love to curl up with a good book! By the way, I also love
the App Goodreads, I can see when I read a book and how many stars I gave it. Also, I love to read the reviews
of books before I pick, and if they only get one or two stars I take it off my list!
