Happy three day weekend my friends! (although it really is all blending together at this point…) And guess what else today is? One whole year since we started our Front Porch Coffee Talks! I have absolutely loved this series and am so glad we are able to “connect” on Fridays on the front porch over a cup of coffee. I am SO incredibly thankful for you showing up every week and I truly appreciate every comment and note that you share with me. So, let’s grab our coffee and head out on the porch- it’s time for this week’s Front Porch Coffee Talk.
I am loving the new Taco Tuesday series- it is actually motivating me to pull out some of our favorite old recipes and helping to get me out of my cooking rut. I’ve heard from some of you that you have tried a few as well and it is always nice to know that you also feel motivated to try something new. If you’ve missed anything- you can check it out what we’ve covered so far here – TACO TUESDAY. I promise this isn’t going to become a weekly thing for good, so if tacos are not your thing- just ignore those posts for now!
PORCH FLAG BUNTING
Any plans this holiday weekend? I know all states are different with their current situation, but here in Georgia things are really starting to open up. Our pool is still closed but it does sound like it will be opening soon, with lots of regulations of course. With the holiday weekend here, I hung our flag bunting on the front porch. And now I just smile. It’s the little things. This bunting is massive and I found a similar one with no stars HERE and this ONE HAS lots of great reviews as well. And if you are looking for some fun “staycation” ideas- be sure to read Monday’s post.
GOODBYE HOME SCHOOL … HELLO SUMMER
We are officially done with our school year. What a YEAR it was. Nothing like starting the year in a polo uniform and ending in a football jersey. (hey, at least he had a shirt on) Admittedly, I cried during both boys end of school car parades. There is just something about the end of a school year that will take a mama’s heart and shred it. It’s these milestones that remind you just how fast it all goes. No one can prepare you for how it feels to be so proud about how they are growing up, but also want them to JUST STOP GROWING UP ALREADY.
With school officially DONE for the year- not only does it mean we get our mornings free… I also got my dining room back. For the last nine weeks I have just closed my eyes to the disaster zone. It felt great to get everything put back together and cleaned up. Not that we will be hosting anyone anytime soon. 🙂 Of course, as I was putting it back together- I started tweaking here and there… and I have a few projects I hope to tackle in here this summer. In case you missed it- here is the full dining room reveal from 2018.
Right before homeschool started, I went on a tear and took down my bird art. Turns out I missed it- so it went right back up! I recently found a great Etsy source for bird prints. I absolutely LOVE these coastal birds and they would look so fantastic in a coastal room.
Speaking of projects in the dining room… I stopped in my tracks when I saw this picture. It really has my wheels turning about skirting the console table in our dining room. Don’t you just love so much about this picture?
PLANTS DELIVERED? YEP!
We had an area along the side of our house that recently got cleared of some shrubs and overgrown trees. Unfortunately, that area was no longer providing privacy and we decided we wanted to put some Confederate Jasmine on the fence to add more privacy. But what’s a girl to do when you are not going out and about shopping? Get them delivered! I was weary of this option, but after reading the reviews- we decided to go for it. Sure enough- four large boxes with a pair of Jasmines in each box were delivered in the big brown UPS truck. And they were all in perfect condition and are thriving. This is what we ordered (the 3 gallon option) in case you are looking for a similar solution.
SUMMER OF DRESSES
I heard from so many of you yesterday that you were also ALLLLLL about the house dress too! Sounds like we are all in agreement that this will be the summer of comfy dresses. There are SO many great sales this weekend and Ann Taylor is currently offering 60% off your ENTIRE ORDER with Promo Code SUMMER ! I ordered this dress yesterday. I hope it looks that cute in person and will report back. It also comes in a cheery yellow. These gold bamboo earrings also “hopped” in my shopping cart. As I have been evaluating my closet- basic day-to-day gold earrings were something I had been looking for and these are promising. The good news is that they are also offering free shipping and free returns.
