Happy Friday! It’s the final countdown to Christmas and for some reason I am feeling quite peaceful about it all. Maybe ignorance is bliss, but I think I have just come to accept that the kids are off of school and it’s time to just enjoy it all. Don’t get me wrong, there is still tons to do (I mean whyyyy do I wait until the last minute to wrap?!?!) so I’m sure I will be spinning in a few days. I have a few things I’d love to share with you this week, so grab your coffee and meet me on the porch- it’s time for our weekly Front Porch Coffee Talk.

If Covid life has taught me anything, it’s that life is going to throw you curveballs. I really do believe that I parent a little different now after living through the pandemic, the quarantine and the impromptu virtual school. It doesn’t make it “easy” but there is a confidence in knowing that this too shall pass. That being said- we got thrown a big curveball this week when our school experienced a fire. Fortunately no one was hurt, but it did wreak havoc on the week. Thankfully our school was able to pivot and the Christmas parties went on!
I have been doing this stovetop simmer in the house and it really is such a treat! I used oranges, cranberries, rosemary and some vanilla extract.
If I was hosting a big group this Christmas I would totally try to recreate this beautiful board.
I popped over to my friend’s house this week and was admiring her Nutcracker collection. I absolutely ADORE this Tuxedo Nutcracker. He is a Drosselmeyer that she was given back in the 90’s after she performed in The Nutcracker. Apparently a rabbit comes out of his hat! So stinking cute.
Speaking of Nutcrackers, I brought three of these pink ombre ones home from Target this week. I plan to glue ribbon on them and make them ornaments for my Nutcracker themed Christmas tree.
I popped into my favorite thrift store this week and found a few goodies. That stocking is hand needlepoint and it was 99 cents. I love it! The wine glass is from back in the day when Arby’s used to gift these glasses and is the same pattern as the set I was given from my grandmother. Those tassels are a set of 8 napkin rings and who can resist a good $3 tray?
Bullseye did a big cannonball into the cereal he brought the boys! I don’t normally buy this kind of cereal, so they just love that their Elf brings it to them!
Santa pictures! It’s always such a special night when the boys get to drop their Christmas list with Santa.
Last but not least, if you need a little something to give to someone get them these garden scissors. I have a pair and keep them in my kitchen. They are great for arranging store bought flowers or if you have a tendency to clip from the yard. No more sharing food with flowers! They are under $10 and would be great paired with a pretty vase. XOXO-
Heather
