To help remedy my Hilton Head vacation-is-over-blues, I am mentally extending my vacation this week…. all of my posts will be lowcountry inspired so I can stay in that lowcountry state of mind! Thanks for hanging with me this week as I rambled on about the lowcountry! Is anyone else now in the mood to visit Charleston or Hilton Head? 🙂
To wrap up the week, I thought I’d share one of the tastiest, family-friendliest, and easiest dinners EVER-
a Lowcountry Shrimp Boil.
The recipe I like to use is super simple and super tasty.
It comes from the Lowcountry Queen Paula Deen! Can’t go wrong with her shrimp boil recipe right?

The ingredients are pretty simple and perfect for entertaining!
SHRIMP BOIL INGREDIENTS:
- Crab & Shrimp Boil Spices, it comes in either powder or liquid form. I use Zatarain’s- this can be found in the spice section of the grocery store. Follow the directions on the packaging for how much to use.
- 12 red new potatoes
- 6 (4-inch) smoked sausage link sausage
- 6 ears corn
- 3 pounds fresh shrimp, unpeeled
SHRIMP BOIL DIRECTIONS:
Fill a large pot with enough water to cover all of the ingredients.
Add the crab boil and bring to a boil.
Adjust the crab boil to suit your taste.
When the water boils, add the potatoes and sausage.
Cook on medium heat for 20 minutes.
Add corn and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
Add shrimp and cook for no more than 3 minutes.
Drain and serve with warm bread.

Can’t wait to get the family together on the fourth and have a shrimp boil!
Happy Friday everyone!
Yummy, I live in the Low Country and just love it. I moved almost two years ago and visit Charleston quite often.
I have fresh shrimp quite often fresh from the water. Have a wonderful weekend.
Lucky you! Fresh shrimp sound so good! Have a great weekend!
Sounds so good! The invitation is adorable!
I am looking forward to this tasty meal on the fourth! Thanks for your note on the invitation. Pulling off the first birthday was quite a job, but I am so happy with the way it all turned out!
What do you use for seasoning for your shrimp boil?
We’ve been really happy with Zatarin’s but we don’t do the potatoes in it. I think it becomes too much.
I’d love to know what is more authentic.
Thanks so much!
Have a wonderful summer everyone 😀
Hi Debbie! I also use the Zatarin’s Crab Boil in the liquid form. I LOVE the spices so I do all of the ingredients in the seasoning. Once it’s all boiled in the liquid, I add some extra Old Bay on top. This is the exact seasoning I use: http://amzn.to/2sPPgaI
Thanks Heather!
Old Bay sounds like a wonderful addition.
Maybe this weekend. LOL 😛
This is the kind we’ve been using.
The red pepper flakes and other spices make the corn so much prettier too.
