This & That: Updates Around the House

in Lifestyle on 11/09/15

Happy Monday friends! Hope you had a great weekend. Is it raining where you live? It has been raining for nine days straight here in Atlanta. And hello, is anyone used to it being dark at 5:30?!? I honestly never get used to it and will pretty much complain about it every night until spring.

Early dark evenings do mean one good thing: the holidays are looming! I haven’t quite pulled the trigger on pulling out the Christmas decor and going to town. Don’t get me wrong, I already have visions of sugar plums dancing in my head, but I think I will give it a couple more weeks before I let loose.

While I haven’t exactly trimmed the tree, I have been busy nesting and thought I would share some of the updates that have taken place around the house lately.

I hadn’t touched these glass kitchen cabinets in years. And they showed it. The only thing they were collecting were clutter, sippy cups, and randomness. So I decided to do a little rearranging and pulled in some fun silver pieces and a couple Blue Willow plates.

Of course, these cute pilgrim salt & pepper shakers that Mom gave me make their appearance every November.

I am on a mission to grow some Rosemary from my neighbors clippings so you will find these little sprigs just about everywhere. I intend to plant them in my garden this spring. But for now, they feel very “Thanksgiving” to me so I love having them around in vases and julep cups.

I found a set of 8 of these navy vintage glasses a few months back. They have a leather snakeskin bottom and the label on the bottom shows that they are Henry & Miller Kraftware. A quick google search shows these are from the ’70’s. I LOVE THEM. #navyismylovelanguage

Here is a quick shot of the other side. Sprucing up these cabinets took about 20 minutes and they make me smile now. #goodbyeclutter  #hellobluewillow

More rosemary sprigs.

Y’all. I just can’t. stop. tweaking. things around here. As much as I love the large and in charge DIY artwork that was in the foyer, I wanted to bring a mirror into this space to brighten it up. #surprisesurprise #anothermirror

We had an old black one up in the attic and I gave it a quick coat of gold with some gold rub ‘n buff. I can’t wait to layer some holiday decor in this space now!

But for now it is simple with some metallic trophies/ice buckets filled with magnolia leaves.
I don’t think I have shown you the milk glass collection lately. Of course, the Blue Willow has been added and I love the contrast.
Since we don’t have a formal dining room, this is as close as I get to a china cabinet. I really do use these dishes and items and I love that they are handy.

And with that, you are caught up. Of course, I will bring you along just as soon as the holiday decor makes it appearance!

Have you been busy nesting just waiting to get your Christmas decorating on?

xoxo-
Heather

Everything looks great and I love all the blue willow. I noticed your little wind mill from Amsterdam! The last time I started Rosemary I put it in clear glasses on the window sill, not sure how it will do in the silver vase, but Good Luck with it!

I've been doing similar things around here as I get ready for the holidays. We're throwing a BIG party this year after my daughter's Nutcracker performance, so I'm already decorating, but shhh! don't tell! 🙂
