It makes NO sense because I feel completely strapped for time with all of the holiday hoopla, but somehow I managed to start and finish One Day in December in less than 48 hours this week! Want to know my trick? I downloaded the kindle app to my phone and voila- I was able to read this while waiting in the carpool line, when I woke up in the middle of the night and before I knew it just by stealing a few minutes here and there this book was a wrap! (now if only all of my Christmas presents were wrapped lol)
One Day in December is a fast and easy read and like reading a sappy Christmas Hallmark Movie! Think Love Actually meets Sleepless in Seattle. Maybe because today is my 16th wedding anniversary or maybe I was just in the mood for an escape and was craving something light and sweet (and very predictable). This love story fit the bill and would be perfect near a fire with a cup of tea and a fuzzy blanket this holiday.

ONE DAY IN DECEMBER
Two people. Ten chances. One unforgettable love story.
Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic…and then her bus drives away.
Certain they’re fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn’t find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s Jack, the man from the bus. It would be.
What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.

Librarians know the power of an easy read in stressful times. Do we really want to read about WWII or the Spanish Flu Pandemic? No, right now we need humorous stories, weird stories, vampires in love, holiday stories and whatever floats your personal boat. I tried reading East of Eden as a goal to read the most recommended books of my birth year. (Please don’t look it up. Lol) Not a good option in stressful times, let me tell you.
My best recommendation? Read childrens picture books out loud. Even better when you have an audience!
