Well hello there and happy FEBRUARY! The arrival of February means it is the “official” start of my 2018. Just kidding…. sort of. You see, I sort of took January “off” and declared it a month to recharge and essentially hibernate and rest. So while everyone was dieting, exercising, cleaning and full steam ahead into 2018, I was Netflixing and drinking tea in front of the fireplace. Turns out that giving myself grace was exactly what I needed and now I feel ready to tackle ALL-THE-THINGS!
While I was pretty quiet around the blog and social media in January and we got lots of hibernating done, we did still manage to get a few projects started around the house. When we moved in 8 months ago, both boys rooms were just kind of dumped and left. The biggest offender was Sweet B’s room. As with many second children, his room was an afterthought from the start. And as a second child myself, this is something I vowed to never let happen, ha.Sorry kid! Anyway, between the move and busyness of life, his room was basically a forgotten pot of hot mess.
I didn’t really intend to start on his room this January but I casually mentioned to the Big Sweet that I thought it would be fun to put a pair of beds in both boys rooms and explained my vision. Well, wouldn’t you know he got a bee in his bonnet and made it happen lickety split. I guess that settles it- it’s time to take on Sweet B’s room!
So here is the space we are starting with:
Oh my goodness I promise it hasn’t looked this bad all along. When we first moved in, he was still in a crib and I knew the big boy bed was coming soon so I didn’t bother to decorate. Then when he turned 3 and got the boot from the crib he did actually have a normal bed in here. During this shuffle, we moved it to Sweet P’s room as part of the process. (although I think he kind of liked it when it was like this!)
The big purchase for the room is the pair of twin beds. We toyed back and forth with putting bunk beds in here but I just feel like it is something they would grow out of and have just always LOVED the look of a pair of beds in a room. Decorating a 3 year’s old room is a challenge because if it was up to him he would have a Ghostbuster logo plastered on the wall. I always like to start with an inspiration board and here is what we are thinking:
Here is the list to tackle:
- Pair of new twin beds– DONE! (Went with THESE from Amazon)
- Bedding for beds
- Change the rug
- New nightstand
- Sconce lighting over beds
- New ceiling lighting
- New drapes- maybe blue and white ticking stripe?
- Art for the walls
- Paint the walls bright white
- Style the bookshelf
OK! Time to get busy!
xoxo-

I shared a room with my brother, two years younger until age 7! I was thrilled to finally get my own room with a touch of pink. Can’t wait to see it all come together.
