A Touch of Fall Home Tour 2022

in Home Tour on 09/13/22

Hi friends and happy early fall! Thank you so much for stopping in today for a little touch of fall home inspiration.  The temperatures dropped below 60 here in Atlanta this week which definitely has me excited for sweater weather and those upcoming cooler days. It also always helps feel more in the fall mood after I’ve added touches of fall in our home. So I’m thrilled to have teamed up with Marty from A Stroll Thru Life  along with 29 other talented bloggers to share our fall homes with you this week. If you are coming from Cuckoo4Design  so glad you are here.

If you’ve been around here long you know I always “greet” you at the door to kick things off so here I am inviting you in for a stroll! Come on in and take a look!

WELCOME: A TOUCH OF FALL– OUR EARLY FALL HOME TOUR

  • If you are new here at Southern State of Mind- WELCOME! I’m Heather, the iced-coffee-drinking-mom behind the blog. My husband and I live in Atlanta with our two boys – ages 8 and 11. I have been blogging for around 8 years, ever since I was fortunate to stay home with my youngest. Here on the blog I share an inside look at our home, style inspiration, a book club and travel highlights.
  • This blog brings me so much joy and I am so glad you are joining me today to have a look around! One way to catch up with me is to read my Front Porch Coffee Talks where I share what’s on my mind on Friday mornings just like friends chatting over coffee.
  • I would also love to have you become a blog subscriber so you can receive my posts directly in your inbox:  please > SUBSCRIBE HERE <
  • Last but not least, I share my day to day over on Instagram @ SOUTHERNHEATHER and I would absolutely love to see you over there!

A TOUCH OF FALL  || THE FRONT PORCH

I spend lots of time out on our front porch, especially in the fall months. This fall there is a new fun addition- a porch swing! When we moved in five years ago, I dreamt of a porch swing on the porch and this summer I finally made my porch swing dreams come true! I found the porch swing at Walmart and was pleasantly surprised with the quality- and the color perfectly complements our porch.

The pillows are an Amazon find and I love how much interest they add even though they are neutral. I think they will be great out here all the way through the holidays and winter months. The pumpkin shaped pillow was an impromptu Homegoods decision and I think it is just too cute on the porch swing.

A TOUCH OF FALL  || THE KITCHEN

Not much new in the kitchen, but you know I can’t resist changing up our center island. This time it got a big ol’ vase of limelights and a pumpkin.

A TOUCH OF FALL  || THE LIVING ROOM

Lets move onto the living room. I absolutely love the way the built in’s turned out using lots of browns and vintage finds. It always takes some trial and error to get them just right! I used lots of black, white, brown, and vintage brass. It really makes such a huge impact on making this space feel like fall!

Here are the built ins on the right side. I made that feather art using some pheasant feathers I had and an old frame. I love how bold yet simple it is!

And here are the built ins on the left side.  I kept it pretty simple but with just a few fall touches! Some brass on both sides to help balance it all and of course the ginger jars on both sides help it feel cohesive.

In the middle I put a trio of pumpkins. These are new from Target and I LOVE THEM!

And last but not least… the coffee table! The Dolly Parton coffee table book is a souvenir from my recent Nashville girls weekend and the colors are just perfect for fall. The  horn magnifying glass was a thrift store score. And the fern is actually three small ferns shoved in a big thrifted bowl.

A TOUCH OF FALL  || THE DINING ROOM

So now let’s all take a peek at the dining room. I was “tickled pink” to add a pop of pink in here. I absolutely LOVE the limelight hydrangeas mixed with the brown, greens and pinks with the dishes.  Both the green and white floral and green band china are recent vintage pick ups from my local thrift store. I can’t wait to use them this fall and will definitely get use out of them for Thanksgiving! The smaller green plates are “Classic Heritage Celadon Green” and I think they will mix and match with lots of my china and for lots of seasons and holidays.

Well, that does it for today. I really enjoyed showing you around and sharing a touch of fall with you. I hope you are inspired to do some fall “house tweaking” of your own! I would love to see you over on my Instagram where I share daily updates- you can follow along here @SOUTHERNHEATHER.

Your touches of fall are so beautiful, Heather! And that porch swing looks so inviting! Now that the temperatures are cooling off, I’m sure you’ll get to use it more. As always, I love seeing how you decorate with your blue and white…so pretty and classic! Great touring with you!

Your home looks fabulous with it’s fresh fall decor and I love it all but those place settings are over-the-top gorgeous! The colors are beautiful together and the plates are amazing! Of course the dog fits right in as well. 😉 Loved hopping with you this week.

Oh how I love your porch and that amazing swing. How fun and what an inviting place to sit and enjoy some cool weather. I love how you switch things up just a bit and yet it always looks so fresh and up to date. Your living room is a favorite, and this years soft brown and camel colors are my favorite. Thanks so much for joining the tour again this season. Such a thrill to have you share you lovely decor with all of us.
