Southern State of Mind Blog by Heather

Lowcountry Inspired: Coastal Carolina Table Setting

in Lifestyle on 06/26/13

To help remedy my vacation-is-over-blues,  I am mentally extending my vacation this week…. all of my posts will be lowcountry inspired so I can stay in that lowcountry state of mind!
While in Hilton Head, the golf club on our Plantation ended up being our go-to spot for a quick bite. Little buddy was happy because he could run free and watch the golf carts and golfers finish up their round. I was happy because they had adorable South Carolina napkins.
What can I say? I am easy to please!

Each time we ate there, I grabbed a couple extra napkins, they were too cute to pass by. Pretty sure Husband thought I was nuts but he doesn’t ask questions anymore.
Geesh, can’t take me anywhere! 🙂
I just knew they would be the perfect accessory for a Lowcountry tablesetting!

For this tablesetting, I used a khaki buffalo check tablecloth. Really for a Lowcountry shrimp boil, I would throw down some newspaper or brown craft paper to keep it casual and spill-free.

I used my blue and white outdoor bowls, because if you are hosting a shrimp boil, you need a place to drop your peeled shrimp and corn cobs.

I popped freshly cut blue hydrangeas in a blue and white flower pot as the centerpiece and pulled the lanterns I had on the mantel down on the table.

Of course, the driftwood from the mantel also made an appearance!

The club also had some cocktail napkins with the adorable palmetto and moon so I grabbed a couple of those, too.
Firefly Sweet Tea vodka- is there anything more appropriate for a coastal Carolina table setting?

All this talk about the Lowcountry has me craving a shrimp boil!
Mom agrees that we should have one on the Fourth of July. Fun!
Can you believe this lucky girl heads back to the beach next week?
I love summer in the south!

I snagged those same napkins from a great restaurant in Mount Pleasant a few weeks ago! They were so nice that I just had to take one to show my husband. 🙂 Love the tablescape and all your Low Country posts.

Beautiful table setting – and having spent quite a few vacations in South Carolina I would say you nailed the lowcountry vibe!
