Five Minute Friday- Stacked Flower Pots

Spring is in the air up in here and I got my toosh in gear working in the yard last week. And by toosh, I mean it was literally sore from digging, planting, and hauling bags of mulch. That is some serious hard work! (But so rewarding.)

When the temps warm up each spring, it’s always fun to head to Home Depot and peruse the selection of flowers. After some consideration, I loaded my cart with some fun goodies for the flower beds, the courtyard garden and some flower pots.

But as usual, I didn’t really have a master plan and just picked out things I liked…and that would need very little attention.

Once I got the plants home, I started laying them out around where I wanted to plant them and hauling flower pots out from winter storage. As I started placing them around the yard, courtyard and porch, I soon realized I had not bought enough plants to fill them all up.

But I actually love this little happy accident because I decided to stack the pots instead. Instant stacked flower pots! Or, ahem, stacked flower pots in five minutes. 🙂

I love the height the stacked flower pots add to the corner of the courtyard and the variation of the colors on the pots. I  am also kind of giddy about how this sweet potato vine should cascade down the planters, assuming I keep them alive. (and yes, I do realize that is a big assumption- but it’s a new year!

**Tip– these pots are HEAVY. I add empty water bottles and milk jugs at the bottom before filling with potting soil. 

Not sure why this never occurred to try before but I am loving the way the stacked flower pots now fill up the corner of the courtyard. It also feels less cluttered than having 5 pots sitting out separately. Yay for happy accidents.
