Summer Home Tour {2015}

in Seasonal Home Tours, Summer on 06/22/15

Hi friends! And surprise, I’m ba—aaaack! We were actually in Hilton Head, South Carolina last week. I absolutely adore the low-country and can’t wait to tell you all about it. We had a great time and I will be reporting our adventures once I get the beach gear stowed and laundry pile sorted.

Since it is now “officially” summer, I figured it was time for the seasonal house tour.  And summer to me automatically means beach so there is a hefty dose of coastal touches.

Well, come on in!
As you know, the foyer recently got some loving including a navy wall, new “driftwood” dresser and stripes. Pretty much everything that makes my heart go pitter-patter. The wreath is a DIY from last time we were in Hilton Head- complete with Spanish moss and oysters.

Oh, and some fun DIY art. Be sure to check out the how and why behind this phrase.
From the foyer we step into the family room, but first we step through this black painted trim. This recent project was done using leftover paint and took less than an hour. I love the way it frames out the space.
Now we are in the family room. This is where we relax. This is where we play. This is where we entertain.

Let’s take a walk down the hall to the Master Bedroom. I recently participated in the One Room Challenge to whip this room into shape in just six short weeks.

This room was a labor of love with lots of DIY’s and repurposing of things I had on hand. It came together for about $350. It was my first time joining the One Room Challenge fun and it was awesome to get a room done in six weeks. (And by awesome I mean painful.)
But in the end it was worth it to enjoy this coral and navy grown up space and I’m so glad I decided to tackle it.

Moving back down the hall we head into the kitchen and eat-in dining room. The mantel got some coastal touches.

The driftwood wreath was a Restoration Hardware purchase a few years back. I love the neutral and rustic look it gives to the room.

Well since it’s such a nice day, let’s move on out to the back porch.

Since we live in a 1950’s ranch home, I am a big advocate of using our space to the fullest. We no longer have a formal dining room or living room. We use our finished basement for just about everything. I converted a closet to my craft cloffice (closet-office). We created a playroom from a sunroom.

And we love using our back porch.
While we have already made our summer adventure bucket list, with two little guys we also spend many nights at home. This spot is a great way to feel like we are “out” without having to leave the house. I like to treat it as an extension of our home.

Thanks again for letting me show you the house all ready for summer. I hope you enjoyed the tour.
Happy Summer! Make it fun!

Love! I really love the Atlanta sign, did you make that or did you buy it?

I love your home! The Atlanta sign is near and dear to my heart as I'm originally from there but live in Illinois now. Your home is lovely, thank you for sharing it with us!
