Guest Room Refresh {Phase 1}

in Decor, Home Tour on 01/15/19

This post is in partnership with Christmas Tree Shops andThat! and their new The Grainhouse line.
All opinions here are my own.

New year, new room to tackle! Today I am sharing our refreshed guest room. It finally got the kick in the pants it deserved. This refresh is long overdue and our guest room has been bothering me for months. I definitely had to ask our Christmas guests to excuse the mess when they visited which was just the motivation I needed to tackle this space.  After 1.5 years of living here, I hate to even admit that I haven’t hung anything on the walls on the walls!  But today that changes and I hope it inspires you to also tackle a room that just needs a little TLC in your own home.

You may recall that last January I updated the guest bathroom, which is attached to this room. I am happy to report that I still absolutely love the bathroom, and still hide from the kids in here quite frequently.

I kid.

Sort of.

And now I am so happy that the bedroom area is getting some loving too. So let’s take a look at the updates!

The room started as a blank slate except for this great lime green light fixture left by the previous owners. It was a great starting point for me and I love the fun statement piece. Knowing I had to work with the green meant I had a valid excuse for going with navy to complement it. #navyismylovelanguage Can you really go wrong with a green and navy color palette?

The Bedding

With that in mind, I knew I also wanted a white comforter. I recently made this change to our master bedroom and really do love the way the rest of the bedding pops when you start with white. I found this white The Grainhouse Washed Pintuck Comforter Set  at Christmas Tree Shops andThat! and it was exactly what I was looking for.

The Pillows

Once I had the white, it was time to add my green and blue accents. This is where it gets fun to start pattern playing! I found these The Grainhouse Stripes Square Throw Pillows in a blue stripe. The rest of the pillows I had in my pillow stash and was surprised that I didn’t even realize those green ones were the perfect color to match the light.

Yay for happy accidents and being able to use what you already have.  Once I had my pillows sorted out, I wanted a fun and colorful duvet for the foot of the bed. After some more shopping the house, I remembered I had GOBS of this vintage fabric from the One Room Challenge Dining Room Makeover leftover. Turns out, that big bag of fabric had two flat sheets included. Perfect for a duvet! This vintage fabric is so fun and funky and just screams Southern Farmhouse to me.

Also – can we just talk about how our Camellia bush is in full bloom right now? I just LOVE seeing flowers in January and love this little pop of pink on the nightstand.

The Console

The other big update for this refresh is a new console table under the window. This room is not very big so I had been looking for a narrow piece of furniture for this spot- knowing that a dresser would be too bulky.  I really just needed something that guests could drop their phones, keys, etc. on. The vent is also right there, so I needed something with legs. This The Grainhouse Ball Leg 2-Drawer Console Table   fit the bill perfectly! Don’t you just love that ball leg detail?

I also snagged this  The Grainhouse Dark Blue/Cream Tassel Storage Bin where guests can drop their purses or smaller items from their suitcase while they visit. And I also grabbed a few blue and white bowls from Christmas Tree Shops and that! while I was there. (I mean, at $4.99 a piece they pretty much jumped in my cart)

The Grainhouse Line

I am excited to be a Christmas Tree Shops and that! partner on their new The Grainhouse line. This line is is an exclusive home and lifestyle brand that puts a unique stamp on today’s farmhouse-inspired decorating trend.  The collection features a variety of furniture, home textiles and entertaining essentials. I am crazy excited about how affordable this stuff is too. (that king size white comforter set was under $40!)  I snapped a few shots while I was there so you can see for yourself some of the great Grainhouse line.

Don’t you agree that those great striped pillows needed to come home with me?!?!

I am giddy about how just spending a few hours on this room made such an impact. Now I just need to figure out some new art and I think we will be guest ready!

xoxo-

Heather
