This Monday was extra tough getting back into the swing of things coming off our week long vacation. To help remedy my vacation-is-over-blues, I am mentally extending my vacation this week….
all of my posts will be lowcountry-inspired so I can stay in that lowcountry state of mind!
While in Hilton Head, we spent lots of time just wandering the plantation on bike rides and nature walks. Among the oaks and pines, I was amazed at how many magnolias we saw.
We have two magnolia trees in our yard, and to be honest, I have never really been a fan of them because they drop their big waxy leaves all over our fire pit.
Talk about a party crasher!
But after this week, I am singing a different tune.
They really are beautiful trees!
I think I was extra smitten because these Magnolias were dripping with Spanish moss. Don’t trees look like they have been there hundreds of years and majestic when they have moss swaying from their limbs?
To bring some of that coastal majestic beauty home, I did a quick arrangement with a Magnolia clipping and some Spanish Moss in a low silver beaded dish.
Where did I get the Spanish moss?
Let’s just say husband didn’t even ask when he found me wandering around pulling it from trees as we were packing the car. 🙂
I love how big the Magnolia flower is and the Spanish moss just adds the perfect detail! Added bonus? This thing smelled amazing!
Sorry Magnolias- I was not feeling the love,
but I have changed my ways!!
NOTE: The Magnolia started to brown after about 24 hours, so if you plan to do this for a get together, don’t cut it too soon!
Hmmm…. wonder what else I can use the Spanish moss for?
Any good suggestions?
