Happy Monday!
Hope your weekend was great and you are enjoying these dog days of summer. We managed to get a bike ride and some pool time in between all of the rain.
Oh yeah, and I got my craft on, y’all.
As you know, we have been so fortunate to visit the beach several times this summer.
Sadly, the beach trips are over…
Sadly, the beach trips are over…
but the good news is that I can get back to crafting, nesting and DIY-ing! 🙂
On our most recent beach trip, I stumbled upon some oyster shells.
Let’s just say hysteria set in when I spotted piles of them on the sandbar we hung out on one afternoon on the boat. Of course, my family knows I am nuts, so when I took the baby boy’s beach bucket on multiple oyster gathering trips, they knew I was up to something and were very supportive of my oyster-shenanigans.
Hi, my name is Heather and I am a craft addict.
I have a good family. 🙂
This past weekend Mr. Big Stuff took a nice long nap and it was a rainy afternoon here in Atlanta, (surprise, surprise.) so I set out to put these oysters to good use.
I also love finding ways to bring the beach home with me.
(as seen HERE)
This time, I took a $4.99 bunch of Gladiolus from plain-grocery-store-boring to pretty-coastal-sophisticated.
(By the way, Gladiolus are one of my favorite to buy from the grocery store. They just make such a statement with a few bucks.)
I like the way the bright purple color flowers
accentuates the colors on the shells.
Aren’t oyster shells so pretty?
This would be so pretty for a coastal wedding.
Or I could see this on a bar in a restaurant around Atlanta.
And here they are in their home on my kitchen island.
Right next to the large-and-in-charge picture of the little guy.
Yeah, I made this for his first birthday party and
didn’t have the heart to take it down.
So, it’s still in the kitchen one year later!
How is he almost two!?!?
Just a small (and free) detail makes me one happy girl!
Have you done any fun crafts with these beautiful shells?
Does your family accept your urges to gather random things for random craft projects?

Hello,
So your beautiful oyster shell arrangement has been the focal point of a non profit event that I volunteer for in Tallahassee, FL. It’s for Chidrens Home Society of North Fl. Anyways, I wondered if you had problems keeping the water from turning a milky white???? My florist said she bleached them, cleaned them 3-4 times and they are still turning the water white!! And the event is tomorrow night. Boo
Any thoughts.
Thanks.
