It wouldn’t be a summer without some oysters around here so it probably comes as no surprise that I found yet another way to incorporate oyster shells into my home decor. Last summer, we made a beautiful Oyster Shell Mirror for my parent’s beach house. This summer, I made some fun oyster shell art in a shadow box. I just love how this adds a coastal touch to any space and is such a fun way to use shells that you collect while at the beach!
SHADOW BOX FRAME | OYSTER SHELLS | GOLD LEAFING PEN
Supplies Needed: Framed Oyster Shell Art
- Shadowbox Frame (ours was thrifted- such a fun score!)
- Oysters Shells- I used 9 for mine- going in various directions
- Hot Glue Gun
- Golf Leafing Pen
To make this art, I just used 9 oyster shells from my stash of cleaned oysters. My frame was thrifted (I knew I would come up with a way to use it when I saw it!) although I found a cute Shadowbox Frame option here. Before I hot glued the oysters into the frame- I used a gold leafing pen to add a fun detail around the rim of the shell.
Once the shells are placed how you want them, use a hot glue gun to adhere them to the back of the frame. This is such a simple way to showcase oysters shells from our beach trip!
I love the way this art looks sitting on my console with the blue abstract art and oranges and hydrangeas in the vase. So summery!
ART | LAMPS | CONSOLE | PILLOWS | SHADOWBOX FRAME | ORANGES + HYDRANGEA VASE
I hope this shell art inspires you to display some of your beach treasures from this summer! I love the classic look of this oyster shell art. But I think any shells that you collected would really pretty to showcase in art for your home.
In a Summer State of Mind,
xoxo-

Geez! Why have I not brought any oyster shells home? I even helped collect them for the oyster shell mirror last summer. Great idea and now I am going to check out the shells I have collected over the last several years to see if I can make a cool shadow box!
