It’s no secret that I love popping into my local thrift store to see what kind of treasures I can find. A few months ago, I spotted an old water ski on a trot around the store and as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be fun to use for a project for the lake house…
I just didn’t know what project yet! 🙂
So I stuck it in a closet and waited for inspiration to strike.
And inspiration finally did strike when I came up with the idea to use it for an address plaque. I recently turned our back porch into a painting workshop to paint a bunch of old dock furniture we inherited when we bought our lake property. So while I was busy painting, I decided the water ski would be perfect painted and turned into an address plaque to use at the top of the driveway.
I just love the way it turned out.
Here is what I did:
- Removed all of the old weathered bindings.
- Filled the holes where the screws were with some wall putty.
- Gave the entire ski a light sanding.
- Gave it a coat of primer.
- Then I used a coat of our lake house paint color- Randolph Gray Benjamin Moore
- Last but not least- I ordered these house numbers from Amazon
The ski was around $13 and the numbers were around $17 making this project come in at around $30! And THIS is why I love thrifting!
Happy thrifting!
